5 Seed

I would like another shot ant Cinci as well for that tourney game a couple years back, but unfortunately this bracket will change drastically.

Seeding really doesn't matter - its all about match-ups in the bracket. For example, if we get West Virginia in our bracket, we're screwed because we match up horribly with them, even if we are the 3 seed and they are lower. We would match up better with some of the higher teams, like Gonzaga for example or even Nova again.

Not disagreeing at all .. I was wondering today which teams would not be good matchups for us and am too lazy to do the research. Clearly WV and Louisville. I suspect FSU and UCLA. Who are your top 4 or 5 you don't want after WV?

Baylor - Length very athletic
FSU - Same as above
Louisville - Different game on a neutral court, but still not a great match-up.
Kansas - Frank Mason would be a tough guard for us (and most teams). High ball screen defense would be critical.

If Purdue plays UCLA it could be fun to watch with both teams bombing away from 3. UCLA has a great offense, but not a very good defense, per KenPom.

I agree ... and the rebounds from threes usually go far from the rim ... so rebounding becomes interesting. Didn't know that their def was suspect.

Don't want to see: West Virginia, Baylor, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, UCLA, FSU, Oregon, Kansas

Good match ups for us: Duke, Nova, Gonzaga, Virginia, Wisconsin, UNC

I would take baylor, Maryland and Kansas off the first list. Kansas has no front court, Maryland neutral does not scare and baylor plays a zone the boilers would tear up and the bears can't score like purdue.

Have to disagree on taking Kansas off. Frank Mason and Josh Jackson are not the kind of players Purdue matches up well against. Won't disagree on the Maryland/Baylor front.

Plus I think Mathias would guard Ball and be the best defender he had seen all year. I know the kid is a talent but I'm not sure why he is being pushed for NPOY. He averages a ton of assists but not a bunch of points or rebounds. Meanwhile, Biggie is nearly averaging 20 and 13 now.....so how does he not get the nod? I am guessing if Purdue didn't have the head scratching losses to Nebraska and Iowa, Biggie would be the front runner for NPOY.

Mason and Jackson would definitely present challenges and Jackson could easily replicate what bridges did, I just think of all the top teams kansas has the least depth and would potentially struggle against purdue's size. The issue would be the Jayhawk guards getting enough ball pressure to eliminate entry passes.

I guess I'd put kansas in a middle category in what would be basically be a 50/50. Purdue needs to win at least 1 and probably 2 of those to make it a special season
