With signing day approaching fast, anyone know which 2016 prospects still have an active offer from Purdue?

I know of Schneider Herard and Khadim Sy. Any others?

SG Bruce Brown. Not sure about SG Zach Norvell. With Herard and Sy, those seem to be the top 3-4 guys still on the radar (Norvell to a lesser degree).

Brown isn't on the radar any more. Herard is #1 IMO. If Miss St and KU get the other big guys to commit...I am hoping Herard picks Purdue.

I also seen on twitter where Kansas got a commit from a 2016 post player which should bode well for us with Herard hopefully

They signed a 3-star power forward. Will probably not be a deterrent for Herard if he wants to go there

Provided biggie comes back, and it's an important if, we would be ok I think. Would mean we would need a significant contribution from Taylor.

wow - nice!

If we miss on Herard and Brown and lose Hammons, Davis, Hill, and potentially Biggie early if we have the type of year we all hope for this year do we bank those schollies for the loaded 2017 class and roll with this group?

5. Haas, Taylor
4. V. Edwards, Smotherman
3. Stephens, Cline
2 Mathias, Weatherford
1. P.J., C. Edwards.

Looking at it there is still a lot of experience especially in the starting 5. I think it is still a tournament team, but with less potential than this years squad to make a deep run. It would put a lot of pressure on CMP to hit some home runs with the likes of Wilkes, Scruggs, Jackson, Eastern and such. I just wouldn't want to take someone in 2016 just to take someone like we did for awhile in the 2009 to 2011 classes.

I think either Purdue or Xavier get Brown.......

Norvell I think picks Illinois or DePaul.....

A class of Brown, Edwards and Herard would be awesome.....

Just FYI, I think Taylor is going to be great at Purdue.....this year if Biggie has to sit out or the next 3 years after Biggie goes to the NBA...

Love Taylor's skill set and love that he loves Purdue and his teammates...true Boilermaker to the core...love that.

Why don't you think Brown will chose IU?

Getting Brown and/or Herard would be huge; Purdue can't afford to go through the recruiting lulls like it did after JJ/Hummel/Smooge.

Also, is there a realistic probability Swanigan has to sit out? I find that extremely unlikely.

Well NCAA moves so slow on stuff you never know......

I hope not and don't think so, but my point is if he does we still have Taylor, Edwards to fill the 4 spot and Basil at the 3.....

One guy does not make a team.....

Hopefully this is all moot here in a couple weeks......fingers crossed by season start....

One guy definitely doesn't make a team, but Taylor is unproven, and Basil is a solid player, but has his offensive limitations. Relying on either of those guys to be a non-role player scares me a bit.

I know the Crystal Ball on 247 isn't always right but they seem to think 100% Herard is going to pick Mississippi State and Brown IU. Brown hasn't visited yet so hopefully Painter can snag him. I know 2017 is loaded but I would like to get another quality guy in 2016. You can't just count on getting a commitment from those main guys in '17

Brown has an official visit scheduled for next week. Herard will go to Miss. St. after as Kansas basically decided they had better options.

Sy committed to Virginia Tech and Herard will end up at Mississippi State, but we may have a chance at Bruce Brown.

I thought the 2016 class was suppose to be a good one? Seemed like we were in good position with a lot of guys but everyone signed else where, why? Hopefully this season is a Homerun and we hit the jackpot with the 2017 class!

Supposidly, the 2017 class is the best of the bunch for great players. As for Purdue, we don't need to have either a strong or large 2016 class. We need to pull in the good kids in 2017.

Purdue just offered 2* (not that that matters but for some it does)...Valpo Senior SF 6ft 7in Conner TenHove......

Great 3 point shooter and passer....under the rim guy but great shooting and drive to the basket skills.

He has offers from Air Force....but interest from Michigan, Northwestern, Xavier, Butler etc.....

Edwards, Brown and Tenhove would be a great class.......then get ready for 2017 Blue Chips.....

Boiler Up!

Agreed 2017 is the important class, particularly for bigs. 2016 is just icing on the cake unless Biggie and Haas both leave after this year. And we are plenty deep at wing and guard to get by for at least 2 more years. With recruiting mostly 3-4 year players, you only need about 2 really good recruiting classes every 4 years, so you can afford a class here and there with mostly role players and specialists. If you get much more than that it seems you just end up getting more guys transferring for PT.

I think Painter will do fine as long as he can recruit well in the "target windows" where there are roster voids due to elite players moving on. Yes, we lose Hammons this year, but recruits still see a log jam with Haas and Swanigan. The following 2017 class should have a much different outlook, and that is where Painter must capitalize to keep the momentum going forward.
