2016 class

The only thing we needed in this class was a PG. We got a great one. If we can get a big and a SG that cab pass, defend and score in a way other than 3 shooting, you bet we will take that.

Praying we land Herard and Brown. Most likely Kansas and IU for their destinations, but we have a good chance IMO

It would be amazing if Purdue could get a hard nosed, defense playing, big SG that can score by driving to the hoop to replace what we will be losing from Ray Davis

I don't think any 7'2" 300lb player is bouncy. He doesn't need to be. But for being his size he is pretty darn athletic. If you don't believe me or remember, go back and watch the North Florida game, or just some season highlights.
Shaquille O'Neal...quite bouncy.

Getting back to the 2016 class. I think we are losing 3 kids for sure: AJ, Hill and RayDay. Toya is also a senior IIRC. From a team stand point, we have backups for AJ and RayDay in Haas/Taylor and Smotherman/Mathias/Stephens. Maybe PJ becomes good enough to step in behind Hill next year. Of course, our depth takes a hit, but the starting five, and the next 2-3 kids off the bench seem to be solid. In other words, 2016 is not a critical recruiting year for Purdue, as long as 2017 is a big haul.

2017 is when we might be in the most need for starting level players. We lose Stephens, Smotherman, and probably Biggie. We need to restock our depth and build for 2018, when the team will turn over greatly.

Of course, I want the best players we can get on scholarships. My point is that we could bank a couple 2016 scholarships for the 2017 class. According to some, the 2017 class of players in Indiana are much better than the 2016 kids. All this seems to point to an emphasis on 2017, and less so 2016.

We have Carsen Edwards coming in next year too, so that should put some competition and depth at the PG spot. From his videos, he looks to be a pretty good PG. That said, all I have seen are highlight videos.

If we are strictly talking about Herard and Brown, there aren't any 2017 prospects that will be better than then except maybe Kris Wilkes.

It's not like if we land Herard and Brown we are missing out. Both those guys are top 40 players in the country and a breath away from being 5 stars.

If we miss out on them, that's fine, we will likely have a great team without them and then we have plenty of room for 2017, but that does put a lot of pressure on us to get a monster class in 2017.

Maybe he would have been a better "fit" but I'm not sure that's he much better, ability-wise, than Bruce Brown.

Does Brown have any visits planned to Purdue?

He listed Purdue along with IU, Miami and UMASS as the places he is focusing on and will take visits to. I don't know any dates but I would expect he takes a visit to Purdue
