2 things jumped off the stat page at me

Haas didn't seem very mobile last night, was he hurting?

Don't think so, Flag. One thing to point out is in the latter stages of the game, CMP was switching IH out on defense....still no rebounds is hard to fathom.

He did look better from the line in the second half. He and CS are going to get a lot of FT attempts, IMO. Get consistent there, and that will really help take some of the pressure off.

Haas actually does a good job of getting position on offense, has good footwork, knows how to get his man on his hip and create a passing angle, all good. But on D, he's still slow to react and instead of making a guy alter his shot, he initiates the contact and ends up fouling. I think this is why he's not a bid defensive rebounder either. He doesn't anticipate and get in position, doesn't start working for position before the shot. Biggie does the opposite; he's clearing guys out as the ball is in the air, not coming off the rim.
Just one man's observations.

I agree with this, but he also is playing like he is afraid to foul, which limits his aggressiveness going after rebounds.

I can't hit the "like" symbol enough on this post Bonefish. Rebounding is all about preparing to rebound before you actually need to do it. Especially offensive rebounding. Often times the greatest offensive rebounders are not that skilled offensively. They know it, so they do work early to be in position to get boards and put backs. Post defense is also about "doing your work early". Notice Haas is a bit week in both of those, D and rebounding.

Charles Barkley idea of rebounding is that 80 % of shots go long, so he tried to go opposite side of shooter and in front of a straight on shot. Seemed to work well for him.

I believe this is because of the driving in the paint. It happened repeatedly with last year's game with butler and it happened repeatedly with Villanova.

When a guard drives into the big man, he effectively screens him off the right side which allows a trailing player to have an easy put back bucket.

I think we will see more of it when either Isaac or Biggie is on the bench. (good strategy for opposing teams - I would do it.)

usually there are more misses than makes meaning there is more opportunity than not...it is all about effort...distance and time

What is because of driving the paint?

My take from last nights game, very optimistic:

If Purdue can maintain doing 20-0 runs every game, especially a few times per game, I would be willing to bet that we will win out, en-route to a National Championship!

Isaac can't rebound out of his space. If the ball doesn't come right to him he isn't going to get it. He will never be a good rebounder even with that size.

Doesn't mean he isn't a good player and an asset.
He is also a 7'2" guy who does not block many shots

Isaac is a great asset, but has limitations which are now being discussed. He can still improve, but he has to do it in the context of who he is. His frame's just huge (also his feet) - nothing for it. But he can keep working on his positioning, lateral mobility, timing, anticipation, etc. In my opinion, anyone can improve at defense... just takes a lot of work, and I think Isaac is the kind of person who will put in the work.
