18-4

Do most fans realize no one in the country has more than 18 wins?
So what???? If AJH played like he cared and our shooters could shoot, and we didn't have any turnovers, and Biggie didn't play like he was a freshman, and we had enough minutes to play everyone 40 minutes a game, and we didn't have Painter as a coach we'd already be 25-0!!!

My "100% non-guaranteed" ranking tells me that Purdue is the #15 team in the country right now.

My methodology is to average Pomeroy (#12), Sagarin (#9), CBS RPI (#24), and ESPN BPI (#16).

I don't know if it'll get us to the Final Four, but it is in the top 4.3% of D1 teams.

Still we aren't where we need to be. Have you watched the last couple of games?

I don't think we have played a complete game since Butler. I do believe peaking at the right time goes a long way. There have been many years I think we have peaked too early, going back to Keady. The conference title isn't what it used to be. Play for a good seed. Izzo is a master at getting his team to play well at the right time of the year. We have the horses, we just need to perform better.

Agree with you rjmpu82. I'm not sure what went ary, but we just haven't played the same since before the Butler game. The biggest thing is the lack of consistent 3 point shooting. In non-con we had various guys knocking them down. Now we seem to go on long spurts without hitting them. If we could collectively shoot more consistently we instantly go from good to great IMO. It just opens up everything so beautifully for the entire offense when we knock those down. We have proven we can do it, I just hope we find it again rolling into the tourney.

RonBurgandy you are exactly right.....3 point shooting is an absolute must in today's college game. You aren't going anywhere without it even if you do have a huge front line. You have to make some 3's, period.

Pomeroy and BPI have good methodology. I've never been a Sagarin fan, I think he has always manipulated his numbers. RPI is garbage.

Pretty hard (& impossible) to already be 25-0, when only 22 games have been played.

As someone who was a head coach for 20 years, you always win 1-2 you don't think you will, you always lose 1-2 you didn't think you would, & there are always 2-3 games that are closer than they should be. Anyone that thinks (or thought) Purdue was going to win every Big Ten game was wearing a pair of sunglasses heavily shaded in Black & Old Gold. The Big Ten is as well a scouted league as there is....teams take stuff away from you, as does Purdue to other teams. No team in America can believe their press clippings from November & December. Prime example is Michigan St. They have been beaten in the Big ten due to numerous items, but they are still a very good team that will be right there when it comes tourney time. Purdue is no different.

Too many "Negative Nancys" here that do not see the big picture, nor have they walked a day in it.

I agree with, you, Gemini, on Sagarin. I've long thought his numbers inflate B1G teams -- across the board. Not saying it's because he's an IU guy, but I do think that Sagarin tends to over-rank B1G teams.

I don't know the ins-and-outs of RPI, but it seems like Purdue never has a very strong RPI SOS, especially in non-conference games.

I do agree that Pomeroy and BPI are the gold standards for today's game.
