the voting between 10-14 is getting close. Arizona is right behind us at #14, but Purdue was only 12 points from being 11th. the biggest climbers were Ok, texas tech and Arizona. the biggest losers were TCU, Texas A & M and tenn
it should be noted because of their pre-season hype, ASU, Nova, Wich St all lost but only moved down 1-2 spots.

Boilers were #12 in the Coaches and #13 in the AP at the end of the regular season last year.

Last time we were in the top 10 was at the conclusion of 2010-11 regular season (#9 in both polls).
The most interesting ranking is the race for 3rd place in the Big Ten. Michigan, Minnesota, Maryland, Ohio State, Northwestern, Penn St, Illinois, Rutgers, Wisconsin and Iowa are all tied with Indiana.
I thought the boilers got down to 9 before Butler beat them in the crossroads a couple of years ago...
Totally forgot about that. Boilers were the AP #9 and the Coaches #8 after starting 11-0.
I am pleased with the #13 ranking. However, keep in mind that if tournament games hold true to ranking, a #13 team's ceiling is the sweet sixteen, right? Teams ranked #1 - #16 are in the S16, then after the next weekend (ranking holding true) only teams ranked #1 - #8 are still playing as the "Great 8". In other words, I want more!

I looked at the current rankings, and I believe Purdue should be ranked higher than Teas A &M, TCU, Virginia and Wichita St, which would place us about 9th.

The top 4 ranked teams were Gonzaga, Arizona, Kansas and Villinova. yet the top 4 seeds included UNC instead of Arizona. Both UK and Duke ended as a #2 seed. Louisville was ranked 10 and became a 2 seed. UCLA was ranked 6-8 and became a 3 seed. FSU was ranked 16-18 and somehow was given a 3 seed. SMU was ranked 11-13 and ended up with the shaft as a 6 seed. Butler, ranked 21-24 received a gift as a 4 seed. there were some other very odd seeding assignments made.

I thought they were around 20 ro so at the start of the season and after knocking a few teams out of the way...went down to 18...down to 16...down to 14...down even more to 12 and down as far as 9 before getting beat and then moving up to some number greater than 9?

2015/16.....AP.....started 23, rose as high as 9.....finished 12th.

No 1 is top of rankings. You move up to 1 or drop down to lower ranking
Hey I'm having fun. In what situation do you move up by going to a smaller number...whether starting with a negative or positive integer. If I gain weight my number gets bigger. If my temperature goes up my number gets bigger. If my iq goes up my number gets bigger. If I put more pressure in my tires my psi goes up. If my heartbeat decreases I go down. It seems that all of life works mathematically except what we have been conditioned to respond such as moving up is going down

I'm sick of this winter already. The only thing I'm enjoying about it is Purdue winning. Feels like -32 degrees outside right now and our electric bill is crazy since we had to put heaters in every horse stall. I will gladly deal with this crap if it means Purdue keeps winning though.

ASU had no preseason hype. They built hype by winning up until last week. Same result. Voters don't change what they believed early until smacked in the face with it multiple times.
still as your number goes down...you join a smaller group. I just find it a paradox to go up by going down or vice versa. I understand that is the language we use. Seems better to say cutting my golf score and getting better. I fully get what we are used to saying, but it is still a paradox to suggest that moving up is moving down or moving down is moving up...got all that. It is how we talk, but still a paradox in the purest sense. Not providing two conflicting directions (up and down) by replacing a qualifier seems more appropriate, but we have what we have...I understand and it has been that way all my life. just killing time between the next Boiler victory
My son is a track athlete. he has his ups and downs. When jumping, his numbers have been going up, and that's good. But when running, his numbers have been going down. Which is also good. A win win situation.
