Probably right. Especially since the 6-11 match ups are just as competitive. All I know is I hate it when Purdue has been a 5 and everyone starts predicting an upset just because it's trendy. In the last 5 years the 5/12 and 6/11 games are exactly 50/50. I had to read that twice because I didn't believe it. Another reason why you want that #4 or better seed.
To the OP: I think it's the parity of the college game. There are a few really good teams each year and then a bunch that aren't separated by that much.
It's generally because the committee doesn't want to upset the middle ranked teams from the big conferences, so that leaves <10 seeds to the really good teams from the lesser known conferences. They've got a chip, nothing to lose, and usually some awesome give-em-hell athletes from the playgrounds.Do you think 12 seeds should be getting better seeds or is it just that there are more quality teams now days? Always seems there are these dangerous match ups for 5 seeds.
