Thanks! And why is Florida the only 1 seed this year to get the early S16 game in their region?Purdue has never beaten a #1 seed. The closest was Virginia...ugh.
This was brought up in another thread. It's about TV ratings, and of course, $$$$$$$$. Sometimes it's about not having conferences at the same time but with 7 SEC teams that's near impossible. I did say that if there were 2 SEC-SEC matchups that they wouldn't be at the same time, but Michigan had to go ahead and ruin that. Thanks! Duke, Auburn, and Houston all have the later game. Shouldn't all 1 seeds get the early start
time in the S16 to have more rest for the E8 games to potentially follow? Doesn't make sense to me.
Yeah, I don't have a problem with being the "late" game, but geezus the late game shouldn't be after 10:00 tip. Just glad we are Friday night and not Thursday night!!This was brought up in another thread. It's about TV ratings, and of course, $$$$$$$$. They have a day off in between games. Plenty of time to rest.
I will say though that the tip times are too late. Should be 30-60 minutes earlier across the board. But God forbid we cut into the nightly news 2 weeks in a row.
I think they were a little stuck this year because 3 of the regional sites are in the Eastern Time Zone. Both on Friday. I'm guessing a Texas regional was not in play as the South because the Final 4 is in Texas. And I think it's a thing that next year's FF host gets a regional this year. So the geography was a little trapped.Yeah, I don't have a problem with being the "late" game, but geezus the late game shouldn't be after 10:00 tip. Wonder what Kelvin thinks about having to play the 4 seed an hour from their campus. NCAA still owes us for the Memphis and LSU screw jobs so I’m ok with it.Yeah, I don't have a problem with being the "late" game, but geezus the late game shouldn't be after 10:00 tip. Doubt it was a 1 seed but I am old enough to remember Auburn and Charles stealing a game from us way back when and on there home court.Wonder what Kelvin thinks about having to play the 4 seed an hour from their campus. NCAA still owes us for the Memphis and LSU screw jobs so I’m ok with it.

I had the honor of meeting Coach Keady at the Ackerman golf course last August… after thanking him for making possible everything Purdue basketball has become, I mentioned that his first year at Purdue was mine as well, and brought up the unforgivable disrespect the NCAA shat upon the 1984 B1G Champions— sending them to play Dana Kirk’s criminals on their home floor in Memphis.Wonder what Kelvin thinks about having to play the 4 seed an hour from their campus. Then 2 years later NCAA sends him to Baton Rouge to play Dale Brown and his bought and paid for crew(including Hot Plate Williams) on their home floor. Unreal.I had the honor of meeting Coach Keady at the Ackerman golf course last August… after thanking him for making possible everything Purdue basketball has become, I mentioned that his first year at Purdue was mine as well, and brought up the unforgivable disrespect the NCAA shat upon the 1984 B1G Champions— sending them to play Dana Kirk’s criminals on their home floor in Memphis.
Classy to the end, Geno told me: “I’ve spent the better part of the last 40 years trying to forget about that!”

I remember that well, however you’ll never convince me that what Illinois dealt with was in any way comparable to what Purdue had to endure. The other co-Big Ten Champ that season, Illinois, also got the shaft - seeded #2 in the MIDEAST Region, ended up in the Regional Final (round of 8) to face the top seed, Kentucky....oh by the way.....in Rupp Arena. To add insult to injury, the Wildcats got plenty of home cooking to dispatch a tough Illini squad.
That's the way it was back in the day - Purdue actually got to play on its home floor (prior to Gene Keady) in 1980 first two rounds. Now, thanks to a Duke upset, they did not end up facing Kentucky in the Regional Final.......in Rupp Arena. Played the Final Four in Indianapolis, as well, and in Boilerepherinic fashion, lost a close one to UCLA (under Larry Brown), which later had to vacate its 1980 tournament appearance victories.
They have eliminated some of those big advantages - but there is still preference for selling as many tickets as possible. And if a team can get to the Final weekend in a nearby geographic location - that can certainly help in some ways, though doesn't ensure the ultimate success.
And to me the big difference was we were the HIGHER SEED BOTH TIMES, whereas Illannoy was not.I remember that well, however you’ll never convince me that what Illinois dealt with was in any way comparable to what Purdue had to endure.
The feather heads racked up two NCAA tourney wins before their situation— Purdue was screwed out of even that by having its FIRST ROUND game on the opponent’s home floor….
That abomination ruined what should have been a legendary St. Patty’s Day at the Stabilizer😳🍺😳
