What's a good "tell" when drafting a QB?

Other than individual stats, what is a big indicator in drafting a QB?

It's hard for me to quantify. In many cases, it depends on the situation they inherit in the NFL. Both Jalen Hurts and Mac Jones had incredible talent surrounding them at Alabama, but Hurts has thrived while Jones will likely be a career backup at this point.

I'm obviously biased, but Brees passed the eye test for me by the end of his sophomore year. But he came within an inch of having a forgettable career due to Schottenheimer not knowing how to game plan for him. He had a great line at Purdue but average--at best--receivers who didn't even get a look by the NFL.
 
I think it is more about the college system and how closely that a particular NFL team runs. What is telling is many college QB's that only played one college season as the starting QB rarely does well if he is thrust into the starting role as a pro in his first year.
