It just seems like the defense, both at the college and pro level, is always completely gassed in the final 5 mins. We saw it with Purdue, with Illinois, with Florida state, in the UNC/App game, and I’m sure countless others. You see it in the NFL where 90% of playoff overtime games favor the team who wins the flip. There’s just a ton of evidence that defenses are gassed.
so my question is, would the games be better, or maybe, would we get an outcome more representative of how the game went, if games were 52 or 56 minutes long? Or is it what makes the sport so popular that with 5 mins left in a game you might have 2-3 more possessions still?
