- I thought the defense made too many errors
- Series before halftime was disappointing; so was two-minutes at end of the game
- We did some good things, too, like the pick-six
- Two-minute drill is character test
- Sanoussi Kane has cross-trained a long time; he can handle more
- Kane has been in the office more than anyone since I’ve been here
- Felt the D played with enthusiasm and energy
- Chris Jefferson is a good communicator; can coach him hard; Never been around a player with better ball skills
- Hurt ourselves with some penalties
- We always work on tackling; player has to be upset when he misses tackles; worked on tackling on Sunday with no pads
- Cory Trice penalty was ridiculous; ones on Jamari Brown and Chris Jefferson were merited; but we want them aggressive; I found out that we can cover guys
- Still figuring out how much to blitz; got better with pressure later in game
DB Sanoussi Kane
- First hurt hip in November after MSU game; tried to work through it
- Had surgery in April
- Credit to medical staff for getting me back; David Bell also talked to me a lot to get me through rehab; have been close with David a while
- God helped me get back early, too; can’t explain it
- Cartlidge in front of hip and stress fracture were issues with hip
- Got confidence from starting at CB in bowl game; I am trying to make plays now
- Saw Rondale Moore go off on Ohio State in 2018, that is when I found out about Purdue
- Vandy, Baylor, Rutgers were other options
- Game at Syracuse will be like a home game for me; been waiting for that game
- Can play safety and corner; I know the whole defense; feel like an extension of Coach English
LEO Scotty Humpich
- Got my first sack
- Came off edge, ran move, and got the QB
- Motivated to show I belong; have a chip on my shoulder to show I can play at this level
- D-line had a good rotation
- Starting season vs. Big Ten helps with confidence; nervous at first
- I played at Georgia and Cincinnati; crowd Thursday was loudest I have experienced
