I dislocated my right hip 50 years ago. It has given me problems since then. It popped out of place regularly. The past several years I've had more pain and it's been easier to dislocate. I have been seeing an orthopedic specialist for 5 years. He took X-rays regularly and always told me that there wasn't enough damage to justify a new hip. I would get cortozone shots or PRP every three months with only temporary relief. I have been using a walking stick for two years, Finally I was to the point last June that I could not walk without crutches. I convinced him to order an MRI. It took 3 weeks to get the MRI and another 3 weeks to see the surgeon. Wonders of all wonders! The labrum was shreaded with multiple cysts, cartilage is worn through and the femur ball has edema forming. I finally have an appointment with the surgeon next week and will find out then when he can do the hip replacement. Meanwhile I can't sleep in a bed because of the pain and I have muscle spasms that can raise me out of the chair.

Should have demanded and MRI years ago.
