Ken Pomeroy has a metric called true shooting percentage. It is essentially eFG% with the addition of a factor for free throws attempted and converted. eFT% is better than FG% because it provides a factor for the value of 3P shooting. IMO, TS% adds to that because it benefits those who draw fouls and convert.
Below are the TS% for Purdue players in Big Ten play (along with conference rank):
Jon Octeus - 59.9 (7th)
Kendall Stephens - 57.1 (14th)
AJ Hammons - 56.6 (18th)
Rapheal Davis - 51.8 (35th)
Vince Edwards - 50.5 (40th)
Octeus has really stepped his game up. And he's brought Kendall and AJ along with him. If that trio can continue to be effective, Purdue will be in every game.
