It turned out that the Purdue-Illinois weekend wasn't just a big weekend for Purdue football.

In the same weekend that CJ Cox was visiting and then committing, the above seven foot Daniel Jacobsen was also on a visit where he met Cox. Even though Jacobsen didn't commit as quickly, after his last visit at Wisconsin, Jacobsen seemed to make up his mind Purdue was the place.
Jacobsen, originally from the 2024 class but was contemplating reclassing or taking a post grad year after this season ultimately decided he was ready and wanted to head to college in 2024. Painter told him that either way, he wanted him as a Boilermaker.
Brantley and Painter have both been recruiting the big man since after the Peach Jam. Painter has been out to Brewster Academy - same school that Aaron Wheeler went to - a few times. Jacobsen locked in at the end of October.
It's the same story - they've seen what Purdue does with big men, the academic opportunities at Purdue, and the family feel there.
Purdue gets its fifth commit of 2024.
