On a related note, after the they played Purdue, Stephen Bardo gave Yogi props for being willing to take the big shot, when he was in studio doing the review of the game. I thought it was really weird. The guy is their best player and already takes a high volume of shots. Why wouldn't he be taking the big shots? It almost seemed like some B1G Network producer told Bardo he had to say something nice about IU...lolOriginally posted by *4purdue*:

Really????? Who Cares???? This is the Purdue board. We've got enough to worry about and you've had enough to complain about over here without ragging on some other team's players.Originally posted by *4purdue*:

To be fair, if Yogi played for us he'd have 2 fouls in the first 2 minutes of every game.Originally posted by bodog57:
Well...I'd have been happy if we would have landed Yogi.
Yogi, IMO, is much over-rated. He forces shots, he misses team mates that are open to take his own shot, and in four critical games this year, he's had the ball in his hands and either turned it over or missed a shot to allow the other team to win. I'll keep Haas and the guards Purdue has and be happy. And it wouldn't be worth putting up with his elitist mama to get him.Originally posted by Mcluck:
I don't think it is fair to dog Yogi for missing a couple big shots when he makes so many each game. I do not like IU... but I respect Yogi. He is a tough kid and I wish we had him. We'd be closer to 24 wins with him. I have a bro that keeps saying if we had Yogi and they had Hoss we'd both be elite teams. I tend to agree.
I have to agree with both sentiments here. Yogi is an exceptional player, and has earned respect across the BIG. He is also not as good as he couold have been, had he a better teacher for a coach. In no way would I say Yogi regrests his choice of schools. I am sure he likes IU and will look back fondly on his time there.Originally posted by TwinDegrees2:

Math, think how much better Yogi would have been under RMK in his motion offense. Or in Cal's UK offense. Calipari or Pitino would have been great fits for him.Originally posted by mathboy:

I do think there are better teachers of the game than Crean, and Yogi would have benefitted greatly from having such a coach. Yogi needs a better understanding of the game, and how to play offense and defense. He needs to know better how to get the rest of his team engaged. Often I feel Yogi's assists are the result of individual players working to get an open look, and him spotting them. As opposed to running a seriously planned play, where he knows where to expect the open man, he looks around to make a pass and the process is random, IMHO.
He came in with a ton of promise, but his development stalled early. He has one more year to kick-start it, but can he do it in the current system?Originally posted by TwinDegrees2:

I am sure he likes IU and will look back fondly on his time there - from what he remembers of them.
