Anybody else watching the game? I'm using a VPN to watch the stream--team looks really solid so far. Very impressed with Jacquil on both sides of the ball and team on D. Nojel still has work to do on that end, but I'm glad he's learning now and will be able to improve before the season starts.

Also, Painter is not using a normal rotation--pulling the starters early and giving the bench extended minutes. May explain the scoring fluctuations from the previous games. I'm guessing Grady Eifert won't be coming in eight minutes into the game against B1G competition :)

Random notes--Cline looks really good putting the ball on the floor. Haas looks to be a bit quicker with his feet, which should help w/ turnovers and d rotations. Eifert looks great--tons of hustle plays. Not sure where he'll be in the rotation, but he should get more playing time this year. Finally, there's no delay on the stream--hilarious hearing so many f bombs dropped during team huddles.

Bench mob is getting all of the minutes in the last half of the 3rd and all of the fourth. Not a lot of offensive chemistry, which is understandable. Pretty much just guys driving into contested layups and Cline shooting a bunch of threes. Tons of upside out of this group, though--these minutes are huge for their development. I think Wheeler might take a bit of time to reach his potential, and he may not get a ton of minutes this year, but his athletic ability is incredible. Pleasantly surprised by Stefanovic. Not sure how this kid didn't get more offers. Reminds me of how we lucked into getting PJ.

Completely agree here. He was knocked a lot on her much like PJ ironically enough, but if this type of scoring is more normal than not for him, then he will be a giant grab .

Guaranteed to advance out of pool play now. If Estonia wins later today, tomorrow's game determines the pool winner. Serbia, Finland, and Ukraine all lost today leaving USA & Germany as the only 4-0 teams.

I think it's a little tough for any take-aways from today's game. The route was on early, and the Romanian defense didn't always seem fully engaged after that. Credit to the starters. They looked so smooth and confident (Cline's play qualified as well), and they effectively ended the game minutes after it started.

He's certainly promising though still a little raw right now. I thought he put himself in some pretty good positions today, but he struggled to finish around the rim. He had a missed 1-hand alley oop dunk that seemed very makeable, and the ball was dumped off to him right under the hoop at least 2 times where he just missed lightly contested shots. I thought he easily coulda/shoulda been better than 50% from the field today. Both his 3PAs were in the last seconds of a quarter, so he did well to connect on 1 of those 2 forced shots.

My understanding is that Sasha was a top 150 and then he got hurt. After his injury, his ranking plummeted and a lot of the good offers he had were pulled. He was left with mid major offers.

He is a big gaurd that can play/guard 1-3 if needed. He can also shoot and Painter likes to get a shooter in every class. He wanted to play in the Big Ten, so Purdue was the logical choice. From all that I have heard, Sasha has impressed Painter. I believe he will see significant playing time, just not this year due to a lack of minutes. I was hoping Painter would offer him and was very pleased when he did. I also really wanted him to offer Bane (who is an absolute stud for TCU right now) and I want him to offer Henry. I love the underdog kids that can ball and outplay their rankings. (Perfect examples are PJ and it appears Taylor will be as well). It's nice to get some of the option one guys, but this team is built of underrated talent. It also shows how good of a job Painter is doing.

I don't know if Sasha is on Dakota's level as a passer and BBall IQ but I feel like if Sasha gets playing time this year, he would play like Dakota as freshman if Dakota wouldn't be injured and sick. I think Sasha is a better athlete and eventually will be a shooter on Dakota's level. The question is will Sasha become a film hound and become a defender and passer like Dakota is right now.

I've been as adamant as anyone that Sasha will redshirt this year. But I'll admit his play has surprised me so far. Granted, we need to take the competition into consideration but I think him playing this year is legitimate option. My only callout there is that if you don't redshirt him, he needs to get decent minutes (8-12 per game?). And if he's getting decent minutes they're probably mostly coming from RC. Is that a good trade off? Or is it better to bank Sasha this year and know you have him for four more?

For those interested, I was able to VPN into the game through Australia. Purdue is hot from 3 early! 33-12 Purdue end of the 1st.

why is there such poor coverage of these games? no real tv, if it wasnt for this board i wouldnt know what is going on there.

Not sure why on the live stream site the game is blocked here in Indy for viewing. Also on the live stream site the replay is blocked right now. I see there is something from Tapei on CBSSD at 10 AM and 12 AM today (8/25) but it doesn't say what it is. I count not find CBSSD schedule anywhere does anyone know when the game might be shown or available on live stream replay?

For whatever reason the site is blocking certain countries from viewing the live stream. You can get around this by using a VPN. Basically it makes it look like your signal is coming from a different country. Last night I tried the US, the UK, China, and Taiwan before finally getting through using an Australian connection. I used Hola.org as my VPN provider. It's free to use.

Hope this helps.

And if not for Purdue being in it, we probably wouldn't care that it was going on. I've never watched a minute of play in this until this year. It's a cool event, and it's cool that Purdue gets to do it as a team, but I don't think the importance of it in sports world is all that significant.

Presuming USA/Purdue wins a medal, I would imagine it will get at least a little press. You may see a little coverage next week during or after the more interesting games when medals are on the line
