Wouldn’t be ironic ND makes the playoffs after the HC quits

Yep. Bama, Georgia and Cincy in for sure.
Only question is in what order. If a rematch wasn't part of the equation, I could see:
1. Michigan
2. Alabama
3. Georgia
4. Cincinnati

But they would never do that, so it will be:
1. Alabama
2. Michigan
3. Georgia
4. Cincinnati

Personally, I think UM deserves it more.

I think they'll avoid another direct Bama-Georgia rematch so it will be your second version.

Boy, the PAC and B12 really screwed themselves this year didn’t they? And what a bad time to miss out as your conferences as sliding toward irrelevance.

I would like to see Iowa win. Then put ND i the top 4. Just so I can see Brian Kelly cry. That would be funny. Iowa has 0 offense right now though. So not looking like there are going to score anymore at all.

And the last thing I want to see is two schools from the same conference in the championship game, but that is probably what will happen.
Would you suggest Georgia would not be in the playoffs? They would destroy any other team you can throw on here. I’m pretty sure ND will lose to Oklahoma or Oklahoma state or whoever they play in a bowl.

CBS projects ND will be playing yet another ACC cupcake - Pitt in the Peach (no pun intended). This year, ND's schedule has been flat out shameful.

I'd put in Alabama, Baylor, Michigan and Cinci. People make a big deal out of conf championship games and then they become effectively meaningless when you lose it and still get to play for the national title. I've always contended that is effectively your first round of the playoff and if you don't win your conference, you shouldn't be in the playoff.

Not everything is in a vacuum though remember. It's different because Georgia has been #1 by far all year long. No one was anywhere near them. You're going to put a 2-loss Baylor team that won by a half yard over the best team all season long?

I would agree with Baylor over any other team for the reasons you give. But unfortunately that’s not the criteria.

They ultimately choose who they want. Just like the ncaa tournament. Someone could choose Purdue to be in the top 4 with their vote of they wanted to. They probably wouldn't have a vote next year but just saying.

I don’t think there is a “vote” it is an open discussion unlike the AP. I don’t think they wanted Cincy on the playoffs but chose them because they kinda had to. I’m sure they wanted to choose ND but couldn’t. If Oklahoma state had pounded it up the middle yesterday on one of those 4 tries they may have leapfrogged Cincy but you coild
Make a case for them, can’t with Baylor losing to TCU.

Yeah if Oklahoma State won I'm not sure what would have happened. Hard to argue against Oklahoma State. Also hard to argue against Cincinnati. Cincinnati's schedule might have gotten them booted out of the top 4. Even after they expand it to 8 teams or whatever they are going to do next, there will still be teams left out that think they should have gotten in.
