Would you take James Blackmon Jr. as a Boiler

Got word tonight that Mr. Blackmon "will most likely" be leaving IU after this season. Seem's he may leave before he gets Creaned.

So my question, knowing how Purdue needs a consistent outside threat, would you take him knowing he has to sit out a year? Could CMP teach him how to play Defense?

No, I think he was a problem for IU. Their chemistry got better after he left. Purdue is fine with shooters we have.

You pose an excellent question. My take is that CMP should pass on him and take the graduate transfers as he has been doing. Blackmon has bad habits that will take longer than two years to correct. I am glad we didn't get him as a freshman. He probably would still be riding the bench due to his inability to grasp and execute defense.

My second point on this topic is that we already have adequate outside shooting for next season and the year after. I would not have put that background to your point in this post.

What about Demetrius Jackson? I know we have CE coming in and Thompson will be a vet. But I've heard from a huge Irish fan the Jackson might want to finish his career else where. I would love it if the Boilers were that landing spot.

No, but I would take any of their freshmen.

Of course I would, in a heart beat. I know it's hard for a lot of you to accept him being from IU, but he is still a very talented player, whom in two years could be a very special player.

If Blackmon leaves, he is likely going to the draft. I think people will try to talk him out of it but it may be the highest his stock gets. Two knee injuries and a team that surged after he went out doesn't look good on a resume. I find it hard to believe he would want to transfer and sit a year. Especially at 1.) A rival of his old school and 2.) A team that seems to be set a both guard spots for a few years. Blackmon is not Eron Harris - he is not going to want to be a two year roll player. No way he gets Creaned either. That would destroy recruiting for essentially the top half of the state for years to come. I hope he just rehabs and goes on to play pro. No love lost for him because he picked Iu, but he is still (kind of) a Fort Wayne kid and I hope he is successful.

It also destroys Crean's ability to get the youngest Blackmon who is said to be the best of the bunch (currently an 8th grader).

He's awful and has been "coached" by Clapp-i-Tan, thats a problem in and of itself, in other words, NO WAY do you even touch him. He is a disaster on defense because he was coached up by the worse defensive coach in the history of defensive coaches. Not with a 10 foot pole would Painter even suggest it.

Jackson won't be going anywhere except the NBA draft.

I would have no interest in Blackmon. I'd take the Anunoby kid in a heartbeat though. He would be a perfect fit for us.

ONLY if he really wants to play team ball and play hard ! It would be a great way to show IU fans and future recruits how good coaching (VERSUS HAPPY) can improve their skills and potential.

Indiana wants me, Lord I can't go back there.

C'mon Gem, you know you want to.....
