Seems like the league or officiating community or somebody would catch on and shut down the deliberate eye pokes from that guy. Or is it an accident every time?
Watch the rest of the play man, AJ was rubbing his eye after...........
Getting hit in the eye does not equal a blatant poke. Watch the play, Woodbury had his hands up and Hammons spun into it. No need to trash Woodbury, who has always been a standup kid other than his unwarranted negative press for the accidental eye pokes.
I've asked myself the same thing, because I truly believe they are accidents. One thing about woodbury, he plays much smaller than he is. He rarely has his hands up on defense, and they're nearly always at shoulder height or below. It's actually one of the big problems I have with his game. He's 7'1" and often gets beat by guys much smaller than he is. A side effect of this is that his hands are often times around head-height of other players. I also think it happens fairly regularly in games, though because Dakich chose to make issue of it on woodbury specifically last year, and then it coincidentally happened again a few weeks later, the microscope is on him.If all of them we've seen from that guy are accidents, then he sure does seem to be prone to that particular accident. Look at the picture again... What possible reason does Woodbury have to position his arm and hand that way? The answer is there is no reason. Or maybe he was getting set so his finger could take a charge from AJ's eye.
And Purdue's football team is horrible .... you'd give your left arm to go to a good bowl, heck ... to even go to a bowl ... but we love seeing the envy. Love to taste your tears .....
You got over crying about the mean things the Stanford band said about you, congrats. Your therapist would be proud of the progress you're making on accepting you went to Iowa.
Thanks for stopping by our board.
OK. This was a di$$ish thing to say. I apologize. You guys kicked our a$$ on our home court and it pi$$es me off. Great win to our most hated rival.
I understand how you feel -- we gave up a 20 pt lead to Iowa State and lost by 1 --- you can do the same ... I just thought the shot at our football team was not necessary, that's why I responded the way that I did ...

The OP's picture, in itself, shows nothing of context. At least 1-2 players have an eye poked every game, though it's only highlighted when Woodbury does it, thanks to Dakich. Who I enjoy by the way, but he had that one wrong.
Kid has been caught "red fingered" like three times on video...........all accidents? come on
I hadn't even realized he had "accidentally" got AJ tonight, but I was showing the people I was with clips of him from last year (3 of them). It's extremely hard to believe they weren't intentional. He must be incredibly uncoordinated, and have inexplicably poor depth perception.
I have friends who are Hawkeyes, and none are this weird. And Purdue's football team is horrible .... you'd give your left arm to go to a good bowl, heck ... to even go to a bowl ... but we love seeing the envy. Love to taste your tears .....
Haha love this thread, maybe you should worry about your garbage backcourt instead of reviewing the video frame by frame for eye pokes. What an epic choke job by your Boilers tonight.
Nice post........I've got my eye on you
Iowa state and Stanford wanted me to let you know your high horse has colic.Maybe you should have your eye on a point guard. Or a new football coach.

I don't expect Purdue to ever be good at football, that's just reality. Perhaps you Iowa fans need to accept that neither will you. If you honestly think his pokes are unintentional after watching all the footage of his countless offenses, I have some prime real-estate to sell you.High horse? Hardly. Woodbury is uncoordinated and I don't think this particular incident was intentional at all. The two from last year against Wisconsin may have been.
I wish you guys the best of luck moving forward. I think your basketball team will be fine. I'm not sure your football program will recover anytime soon. Might be a long time before you guys even sniff the Rose Bowl. But, who knows?

An uncoordinated guy who managed to avoid fouls. All eye pokes look intentional in slow motion, not just Woody's. Also, as the Purdue fan above astutely pointed out: Woodbury is incredibly uncoordinated, and nobody would dispute that. He's 7'1", and when you're that tall, it doesn't take a lot of coordination to be a D1 Center. In fact, when a 7'1" guy is coordinated, we call them "All American's" and nobody will accuse Woody of being an All American. I still don't believe he's a dirty player.
Maybe he did that day, but he's a foul machine, that's why he can't play more than 20 minutes a game. He's been better this year, but still can't give 30 minutes, while his previous years he's really had trouble staying on the floor. For all the reason's I've mentioned, Woodbury has been the whipping boy of Iowa fans the past 4 years, but he's not dirty, and he's not intentionally poking eyes. Sorry to disappoint. An uncoordinated guy who managed to avoid fouls.
