The 13th ranked Badgers visit Mackey for the only regular-season contest between Purdue and Wisconsin. National TV coverage is on CBS with Ian Eagle and Bill Raftery calling the game. Even though it's early in the conference schedule, this games looms Yuge in the potential standings and BTT seeding.....the winner will own the head-to-head tie-breaker. The Boilers also can't afford to be down two in the loss column to the Badgers given the unbalanced league schedule.
Hayes, Happ, and Koenig and the rest of the Wisconsin team pose quite a challenge....they rarely beat themselves and have a lot of experience up and down the roster. Can the Boilers shake off some of the inconsistent play and get back on track? The home crowd should help....going to need a focused intense effort from the opening tip.
I'll be interested to see (among many things) how Carsen Edwards responds...he's getting a sense of what conference play is like....Caleb Swanigan and Isaac Haas have their work cut out for them...hopefully not too many "nickel-dimers" this afternoon.
A little trivia....'72 was the last time the Badgers won in both Bloomington and West Lafayette, and '56 (Illinois) was the last conference foe to do it in consecutive games. Let's hope the Boilers keep those streaks going.
Look for Purdue to come out in their traditional "mannamann"....should be a great contest.
Boiler up, my friends.
