Poll is simple: With Painter 8-4 vs Crean, 8-0 vs Non Zeller teams, having won three in a row over Crean including multiple blowouts, and with Purdues roster a complete mismatch for IU again this year, will Painter ever lose to Crean again?

Seems like a post that is trying to get people riled up. Purdue could lose to IU this year if IU shots really well. The only way Crean never beats CMP again is if Purdue wins this year and then Crean gets fired.

Many factors (home/away etc) affect the outcome of a game but I think it's safe to say Painter has learned how to effectively defend what Crean wants to do. That gives Purdue a good chance to win every time we play IU.

Beating them down there will difficult this year. Biggie will have 2 fouls before the TV timeout. It wouldn't surprise me if AJH is in the same boat. It's tough enough to win there if its a level
playing field. Let's hope!

Its PG where foul's will hurt us with the iu match ups.....J.Hill & PJT each have 3 fouls at the first whistle.

I have been to the mountain top (not that difficult since there's a road to the top). I have seen the promised land. A burning weed gave these instructions for winning at the hall of calls.
Thou shalt feed the post for thy enemy has no response.
Thy shalt pass out of double teams for thy teammate is open.
Thy shalt not yell excitedly at the fans after making a good play for thee wilt be punished
Thy shalt not be in the vicinity when thy opponent falleth for thee wilt be called.

There were more but I can't remember. Something about that weed.

Everyone said Hammons would be in foul trouble @ Bloomington last year. Well, he wasn't and he dominated the Hoosiers again.

This is a good point. Painter used to apply so much pressure that his teams were vulnerable to dribble drive offenses, like IU's and VCU's. Last year, I thought that Purdue did a much better job of neutralizing what IU likes to do.

I hope Crean has Bill Belichek talk to the IU team again before Purdue plays them.It worked out well for The Boilermakers.

Last year's game at Assembly Hall, each team was called for 17 fouls. For Purdue, Haas and Hammons finished with 4... combined. Purdue's previous game at IU before that one, Hammons was called for 3 fouls in 21 minutes (vs. 3 fouls for Zeller in 25 min).

I think some people give a little too much credit to IU's purported foul advantage at home, at least over the last 10 years anyway (relative to any other team's foul advantage at home, that is). Let's be honest, Davis and Crean are not exactly the most intimidating individuals when it comes to drumming up fouls... they haven't quite mastered the Bo Ryan death stare:

Box score numbers can be deceiving. The total number of fouls might not tell the whole story. If we have a player get 2 fouls within the first few minutes after the tip that guy will more than likely sit the remainder of the half. So it's not necessarily how many fouls, it's more when they are called that matters some games.

That's part of it but IU hasn't emphasized passing into the post and is a perimeter oriented team. Unless the other team is stupid enough to foul a jump shooter, IU should shoot less fouls than a team like Purdue that utilizes the inside game. Zeller not withstanding as many of his points came in transition and from jump shots.

Fair enough. But the game log shows Hammons picked up his 1st foul just before under-4 timeout in the first half. Octeus did have 2 in the 1st half, but with the 2nd coming with 2:30 to go in first half. While your point is duly noted, I don't believe there was "more to the story" in that game with respect to early fouls. Granted, that's just one game and doesn't prove a lot one way or the other, but thought I would respond.

I'm not pointing at any particular game either. I just know that it's happened in the past at Ass Hall.

Back in the 80's and 90's I think this was a real thing. You just knew going into the game you were going to have to overcome a real home court "advantage". I don't think that has been the case more recently. Now the Kohl Center, that has become the place I most dread!

Agree completely...When Knight and Keady were on the bench, I thought both venues got some "home court cooking". Now, in the Big Ten it seems only Wisconsin & Michigan State get that advantage. All has to do with the coaches???

The Kohl Center will not be as formidable after this year although vampires live eternally!!!

The advantage isn't what it used to be but 6'5 screaming Knight is a lot more intimidating than 5'11 Tom Crean.
