Our neighbors to the South seem to be imploding right now after losing 6 out their last 7 games. Have to say that I am loving it.

There seems to be a lot going on with Woodson questioning his players toughness in the media, which usually doesn't help with team morale, and some of his players seeming to not be playing hard right now.

Unless they were to win the BT Tournament, and that has to be high Las Vegas odds, I don't see how IU makes the NCAA Tournament this year, unless the NCAA Tournament Committee were to get some NIL money.

Will IU accept a NIT bid or sit this March Madness season out?

Will Sisley jump ship to the good guys when Woodson is fired?

I doubt that IU will "lower" themselves to play in anything but the NCAA, especially after being humiliated at home in the NIT a few years ago.

As for Sisley, Painter doesn't usually go after a player once the player decides Purdue isn't the best place for him. Thinking again, he did make exceptions with Haas and Swanigan.

No.

Because they won't be good enough to get an NIT bid.

I don’t really care tbh. They haven’t been relevant for decades (save for the occasional win against Purdue recently). Their coach is a dead man walking. Their season is like our football season. I would have maybe cared 20 years ago.

I'm wondering if they will make the B1G tournament

Don't know. Don't care.

Thought this was a joke and then looked and saw that they are 5-7 and the first team out right now is 4-8. The only games they are projected to win the rest of the way are PSU and @ Washington.
I will say this, there is a lot of basketball left to play but https://bball.notnothing.net/big10.php?sport=mbb is always fun to play around with.

If you mark it for their only win being against Washington from here out, they would be in by a couple different tie-breakers.

Minnesota and Northwestern winning yesterday crunched the bottom half of the B1G standings. There are suddenly a lot of teams in danger of missing it. There was a thread on the Iowa board worried about it before yesterday's game.

I believe we can currently be no lower than 10th. Lots of permutations obviously.

There is also some new tournament this year for majors who miss the NCAA. Don't know much about it yet, even forgot the name. Something with a crown?

Personally, I think IU is on the cusp of greatness - and even if they don't get into the NCAAT, Woody has the mercenaries on an upward trend and deserves several more years at the helm.

I think Woody could coach into his nineties and should be given that opportunity at IU as he is a legend.

Minny had a nice win last night

Plus Woody is in very select company. He was alive last time IU won a banner. Soon we will have to say was anyone alive last time IU got in the NCAA tournament?

I recall when Purdue had a bad year and accepted an NIT bid. Coach said he wanted to use the NIT as experience and a springboard to the following year.

While some teams have turned down their nit bid saying they would only play in the ncaa tournament, every year there have been a bunch of very good teams that have played in the. Nit tournament.

A crazy idea of mine. Do the selection for the NIT after the first weekend of the NCAA tournament. And extend invitations to teams that were upset in the first round of the ncaa. It would be sort of a consolation tournament
