Why does Travis Miller hate Purdue?

I don't get all the vitriol towards Travis here. He's a Purdue grad and fan who writes about Purdue sports. You can disagree with anything anyone says, including Brian or Alan or Tom, and it should be no big deal as long as it's done in a mature fashion. I often wonder why we all can't get along. We all have the same goals.

Travis Who (Cares), Another want to be know it all, Just a "nobody's" thought.

He used to be a regular here. For the most part, I don't recall him being any better or worse than anyone else.

But then, I think he posted some content from an email that put one of our programs in a bad light based on some questionable sources. Things kind of went downhill from there.

You used the word mature, that has been lacking in some of his previous actions/reactions to Purdue sports.

I agree. The more Purdue publications the better. GBI can get stale at times (same old content and same old questions to the coaches), which makes other content refreshing. It's odd to be loyal to a publication. Aren't most here Purdue sympathizers?

it's a matter of perspective. I read about Purdue sports on 5 different websites and forums. all fans have the same overall objective. However, they each have their own viewpoints, fears and ideas of how to reach that goal. While many here love passing, I would prefer Purdue follow UW's blueprint to success with big linemen and running the ball. It works for them. I can remember when UW lost 30+ games in a row. You could call that the hazell era of UW football. They turned their program around. and they did so without cheating and a budget about the same as Purdue. Iowa and Northwestern are much the same way. They have found their way to success. I'm sure Purdue will also find success in much the same fashion. However, I'm just a fan and not a player or coach. If I was a coach, I'd do things differently. Brohm seems to know what he wants to do. I don't know of any coach who could generate better results, So I'll continue to cheer on the team.

But it's like you said: travis is travis. I'm sure he has developed his own following. it's just people here disagree with his opinions. Think about it. he didn't post his opinions here. he posted them on his home turf / web site. and the people there respect his opinion.

Unfortunately his blog has a lot of views. Also unfortunate that half the crap he spews is incorrect. He also tends to act like w child (look at his Facebook videos after a loss) that looks poorly on the fan base. Not sure why they continue to get media access(they shouldn't).

I spent a lot of time over there when I first found the forums and was looking for PU info. Once I arrived at GBI I have not been back much.

if he did not have a following, he wouldn't be there.

Some of you swear by everything Brian says. I'm not going to bash Brian, but look back and think about it, have you ever disagreed with Brian ? If he ever tried an April fools joke, you would be easy prey.

it's healthy to read opposing views. You say he placed the program in a bad light? The only person or activity that can do that is Purdue, the coach and the players. Did the Purdue football player punching his roommate put Purdue in a bad light? Did Haas' off the field actions put Purdue in a bad light? Cline? I highly doubt one fan's stated opinion placed Purdue in a bad light. after all, none of you or anybody else ever reads hammer and rails editorial comments anyway. and you always say they are wrong, and have no cred. So why would anybody care?

and if he worded it a little bit differently, he was right. Every time we have high hopes for the future of our program, there always seems to be something that goes wrong. I was at the Michigan game where if we beat Michigan, we'd go to the Rose bowl. and Mark Herrmann was injured in the second qtr, and didn't return and we lost. I was at the Notre Dame game when we were ahead by a big margin, and then their first and second string QBs were injured, and ND was forced to play their third string QB - a guy named Joe Montana, and we lost. We were beating UW until the famous fumble. 3rd and 10 on the 20 with the lead and time running out, and we let them score a TD. a 56 yard Fg by the back-up kicker? The list goes on and on. Injuries, plays and bad luck - every single F-ing year ! Throughout our storied history, Purdue seems to be snake bit. it's become the norm and expected.

I also have to believe if Travis said anything, it was more than just a one liner. by commenting here, you are actually giving hi m free publicity as people will now go to his site to read the rest of his story. It's almost as if the person who complained about Travis was paid to do so by Travis himself. he doesn't need a KHC. he has us. pretty good marketing strategy !
