Why can't we fire The Haze tonight and bring in Briles tomorrow

Yeah, don't want a coach who looks the other way at sexual assault allegations against players. Don't care how good he is.

We should not whore out our values and character to win some football games. He turned a blind eye repeatedly toward sexual assaults. C'mon New Pal.

I'm all about second chances, for winners.

We can hire an extra compliance guy to keep an eye on him.

this again?
he just hired a new agent, and is now on another media blitz making vastly different comments vs. a few weeks ago.

If - and that's a huge if - we were to fire DH tomorrow, there's no way we'd bring in someone from the outside. We'd appoint an interim until the season was over. I'd vote for Freeman.

I haven't followed the Baylor thing but has the full story come out regarding Briles and his role? If he has been implicated then I wouldn't want him regardless. I know how things like that go though and many times there is collateral damage in the crossfire.

Also, there's nothing that says he would even want the Purdue job even if we were willing to take him.

Has he said he wouldn't take it?

Not entirely, and may not for quite some time - which is the biggest issue/gamble to any possible future employer of his

I am increasingly skeptical after he has recently changed the tune of his story/involvememt

Dear Lord...
Look, I know most Purdue folks are conservative, cautious, play it by the book types, but that attitude wont get us out of the hole we have dug ourselves now. We need to make an aggressive, bold, ballsy move. There isn't another proven P5 winner that is available right now, that I can think of.

I don't think the Purdue football job is quite the attraction you think it is. A coach like Briles is out right now but he'll have other opportunities coming his way.
We won't know if we don't ask. Make him an offer he can't refuse.

Ask our friends in Happy Valley how things turn out when you turn your back on your core values to win games

Some things...like integrity...are more important than winning. It would send a bad message to the female students and staff that winning a game is more important than they are.

Is there any hard evidence that Briles is guilty of anything?

If we are going to aspire to be a win-at-all cost program/AD (like Baylor of the last decade) , we may need a different president, BOT, boosters, etc to make that happen.

Seems to counter a major opinion on the other board, and pretty much what iu fans, Kentucky fans, etc have been ridiculed for themselves in the past

Not after the 2nd game of the college football season? Go figure.
Yeah I'm sure Saban or Urban will be ready to sign up as soon as the season is over.

Listen, I wouldn't mind a bit if DH got fired tomorrow. Heck, I'd be impressed with MB2 for doing it. But there's no way he brings in an outsider until after the season is over. Freeman would be his best bet.

We are one of the most conservative P5 schools in the NCAA. And we hired the AD from one of the schools that is arguably more conservative than us. I seriously doubt anything is happening in season. And I also expect the next hire to be conservative and non-sexy (but not Spack).

nothings bold and ballsy about selling out your values

I think it's among the toughest jobs in the Big Ten. That's why I wouldn't want to try to fill the position in mid-September. I'd like a larger list of candidates and not have to throw insane money at a guy that was forced out of his last job in spite of winning pretty big on the field.

I remember when everyone was so upset and disgusted with Bobby Petrino. And how they'd never want him to coach at Purdue either. Let me tell you something eventually everyone forgets and it's not a story anymore. Winning cures all. If we hired Briles I'm sure he would be on his best behavior.
