I just watched 2 Utah games (against California and against Oregon) and I believe the answer is VERY VERY clear.
The answer : AJ ! ! ! Anyone drafting Poeltl (sounds like Purtle) over AJ is making a BIG mistake
He reminds me of Isaac, with a "little" bit of Jack Layman in him (ie mobile enough to dribble drive to the basket from say the freethrow line) but is not an AJ HAMMONS (can someone please tell RAY - I have heard that he has wondered about Poeltl's skills.)
In summary:
1.) The guy is BIG - reminds me of Isaac, but Isaac handles the double teams and passing better
2.) Reminds me of Isaac again defensively (No disrespect Isaac ! ) Athletic drivers give him lots of trouble
3.) He is more fluid offensively and is good at using his rear to slowly back smaller defenders under the basket where he can score.)
4.) He can't shoot 3s like AJ, but can make a 5-8 ft shot
5.) Runs the floor more like Taylor (One thing he can do better than AJ, but not by much)
6.) He is not much of a shot blocker (Another plus for AJ)
Against Cal., who decided to play man on him, he got around 30 pts. Against a much quicker and athletic Oregon, he got 4 baskets underneath and 13 pts, but was EXTREMELY frustrated ! !
If you are asking me, I will take AJ HAMMONS every day of the week and TWICE on SUNDAY ! ! (Hint Hint ! )
Go get your ring AJ ! ! We are ALL pulling for you !
