Who would you rather have? Past Jobs and ages listed. I'm not saying I don't want Fleck, but his resume is the least qualified, even less than Hazell's was.

1998–2000 Dallas Cowboys (TE)
2001–2004 Oklahoma State
2005–2016 LSU

Of those listed, Schiano has the obvious better resume...just don't think he is on our radar right now. He may end up holding out for a better job...and honestly, he can get a better job holding out next year than Purdue.

You have to acknowledge that Fleck the youngest coach in that group, and he's at least a decade younger than everyone except Rhule. He hasn't had as much time as the others to build a resume.

I'm picking Brohm for the job.

I'd be very happy with Brohm.

I didn't mean my post as an endorsement of Fleck, just an observation that he's quite a bit younger than the others. I find myself getting more and more lukewarm on Fleck, partly out of concern for the damage done to recruiting when he rescinded scholarship offers at WVU.

I think my top choices are Brohm, Rhule, Calhoun, and Bohl --- not necessarily in that order. Not that I have any say in this process.

If it is based on past resumes, Schiano and Miles win I think.
Agree, but, given that Hazell's past resume was modestly impressive seemingly...it points out that past resumes are not necessarily the best indicator of the potential for success.

nat mentioned it...coming from a position of weakness, or at least having been involved with a build or rebuild, may be more important or better than coming from a position of strength.

That said, coming from a position of strength also dictates some expectations of success and support that would be demanded...or exposed if it was not there or was lacking.

I have said for some time and remain of the opinion that the Purdue job is just not a really enticing job, especially for someone that has been somewhere better (and in the case of Miles...places...and places that were significantly better)...it would be appealing seemingly to someone looking to get a salary bump, and someone that is looking to get to a P5 school and does not anticipate a lot of other opportunities. It is in the weaker division of the conference at least, which should be appealing, but all of that said, it could very easily be a career killer, especially for someone young. The roster needs a virtual complete overhaul...next year's schedule is brutal...there is virtually no fanbase, never mind an interested and/or invested one...recruiting is difficult seemingly (and it is going to likely be the key to any success for the next guy)...and the program is at the lowest point that it arguably ever has been. I am stunned that there is any genuine interest from anyone that has any national recognition, and maybe there really isn't.

It will be interesting (to say the least) to see what ultimately happens, and, when it ultimately happens.

It was said a few years ago that Schiano really wanted the Vanderbilt job.....I figure if that's true, then he'd want the Purdue job even more. Purdue has more of a fighter's chance in its division than Vandy in theirs.

You throw out $15-$20 million guaranteed and you will get phone calls returned. Then you have to convince them the school is going to be committed to winning, with staff salaries, facilities improvements, etc etc.

Bo Pelini has the best past resume of any of the available coaches and has the highest probability of rebuilding the program into one that can beat any of the B1G teams with the exception of MI, OSU and WI. He would energize the fans and bring new life to the program.

I think I'd be pretty OK with Bo.

I know he's a love/hate type guy, but I kindof love his crazy.

I just don't see why we are waiting if it isn't Fleck or waiting on Fleck at this point. Just waiting for the reality to come crashing in with a sub par hire.

Not to mention we would get the amazing 'Fake Pelini' twitter profile along with him! That alone is worth giving him an interview!

Thumbs up for Faux. Thumbs down for Bo. I think he can definitely win here but he's a time bomb ready to go off at any time.

We need a guy that is a little out there (Joe fit that bill), a guy with some fire on the sidelines (Bo fits that bill), and most importantly, a guy that wants to coach for us not one that is reluctantly taking the job (don't know who that is). But since this thread was about resume, Bo's is hard to beat. And Bo had NE playing better ball than what they have now.

Bo would come in here with a hard on for sure. Would get the Huskers every year so that would be fun. I think we're going to get a huge upgrade no matter who we choose. (As long as it's not Spack or Olsen)

Burke couldn't have handled Pelini - maybe too much for MBob. But Pelini could get us back to where Tiller had us and contending for B1G West. Games would be fun just for some sideline antics. And good point for a new NE rivalry to boot!

"As long as it's not Spack or Olsen"

What is your friggin' problem?! You want anyone but somebody who's actually coached at PU.

The grass is always greener on the other side, right.

That's absolutely right. I don't consider that a "friggin' problem". Guessing you think Woodson's a great idea too. Get out of your "friggin' box".

Box? You're the one in a box. The anyone but Purdue box. So everyone who's ever been here is excluded because they're "part of the problem." Brilliant stuff. My 10th grader understands that things aren't that simple.

This 55 year old is ready for change. Always have enjoyed your post Bonz and won't get into a pissing match with you. I know you agree on a couple of things. 1. We want the best coach available and 2. We're excited to see and support the new coach.

I could probably get behind Pelini.

Thought he was a Bret Bilema- level jerk at Nebraska, but I can get over that. We're facing a real emergency here.

A little bat sh!t crazy by a guy who really knows what he's doing might do this program some good - or at least make things more entertaining.
