When will we hear Illinois commited recruiting violations

Why would “no one in their right minds go to Illinois,” exactly? Great school, athletics that’s covered in some big media markets, low expectations, a chance for immediate playing time, an NFL coach and a university town that perpetually ranks in the top 20 nationally ... no one is saying YOU would go to Illinois, but your bias is showing. There’s potential at Illinois, and the fact that we have sucked is actually fairly irrelevant to that.

Mainly because Lovie has got to be on the hot seat.

Lovie may be an NFL head coach, but he has never shown any ability with offensive players.

Because Lovie isn’t a good coach.

well he did help take da Bears to the Super Bowl . Granted, that was like 12 or so years ago but still lol. I will admit that I haven't been too pleased with our play on the field and Lovie's coaching hasn't been remotely decent the last two seasons while he's been in Champaign . As a lowly Illini fan, I am very happy & quite shocked that recruiting has picked up. Who knows, we might actually be good in the year 2020! haha

Has Illinois ever had a good football team ?
lol its been awhile but yes. the 2001 Illini team won the BT & went to a BCS game (coached by Ron Turner) .
Then in 2007 , Ron Zook helped take the Illini to the Rose Bowl (got absolutely destroyed by U$C though) .

Don't know if true or not but it was said that the coach of the ST Louis QB/AT was hired by Lovie. Also, the kid from Texas has a very close connection with one of the Il coaches.

Illini won the 64' Rose Bowl with Dick Butkus and Jim Grabowski- then almost immediately went on NCAA probation due to a scandal involving "slush fund" payments to players on that team. It was commonly known that Butkus never should of been admitted to college based on his HS grades and test scores. The joke on campus reportedly was if you spotted Butkus the c and the t, he could not spell CAT. Teams in 1980's were pretty competitive coached by Mike White and Macovic-QB'sTrudeau, Eason and George all played in NFL-Illini were always considered Purdues main football rivalry game from 1940's-1980's

Isiah Williams has a boatload of offers, but it would appear that they weren't all to play the QB position. His youth and High School coach, Corey Patterson, was hired as Illinois TE coach. I don't think this is about any shady dealings. I think this is a kid choosing to be with his coach at a school that's going to give him a chance to play QB.

The ONLY reason at all that he took them to a SB was Ron Rivera was his DC and that D was stacked, no Ron Turner isn’t an offensive guru.

That kid won't be competing for playing time. Potential is always there. Kinetics is what is always missing. Illinois is beyond a dumpster fire in both football and basketball. Something is missing much like the 5* guard that signed. That move alone has scared recruits off the way he was recruited.

There's always been potential at Illinois though. And more often than not a non-competitive team is fielded. If you're a 5* QB, would you go somewhere based on untapped potential? Or somewhere with a history of success?

I don't think it's odd at all to be surprised when a top athlete goes to a dumpster fire of a program.
