What will be PU's record next year?

How is this different than your poll to see how many wins Purdue will have next year?
You Really Got Me or Hooray for Hazel.

If the play calling improves, and I don't see how it could possibly get worse than last season, Purdue may escape the Big Ten cellar. But realistically, looking at their schedule I think they'll be lucky if they win 1 game!

Eastern Kentucky - W
Cincinnati - L
Nevada - W
@ Maryland - L
@ Illinois - L
Iowa (HC) - L
@ Nebraska - L
Penn State - L
@ Minnesota - L
Northwestern - L
Wisconsin - L
@ Indiana - L
Total Record - 2 - 10

The schedule is some what favorable in that Purdue only plays back to back away games once during the course of the season. That bodes well for a team trying to figure out how to win games. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Purdue end up 5-7 with added wins against Cincinnati, @ Illinois, and @ Indiana but it also wouldn't surprise me to see 0-12. If the team goes through the non-conference 0-3 and gets waxed by Cincinnati and Nevada, I think Hazel needs to be fired mid-season because there is a real threat to go 0-12. If that happens, I think you give Marcus Freeman a shot as HC to reward his loyalty to the program through tough times and give him a good audition for other jobs.

My worry is the 2017 schedule. If Purdue struggles to get 1 or 2 wins in 2016, what are they going to do with the 2017 schedule?
Louisville, Ohio, @ Missouri, @ Michigan, Minnesota, @ Wisconsin, @ Rutgers, Nebraska, Illinois, @ Northwestern, @ Iowa, Indiana

There is a real chance, looking at the past 3 seasons, Purdue goes without a win in 2017 no matter who the coach is at this point.

I'm hoping the new coaching staff can win in spite of Hazell. If this season is another debacle, I don't know how any AD can justify keeping the head coach at that point.

if the new AD is in place by August, Hazell will have to move mountains to stay.

There isn't enough talent
I agree, but if he's as mobile and accurate as Aaron Rodgers, he could buy time with his feet for our mediocre receivers to eventually get open, and then deliver a ball that not even they could drop, most of the time.

Then again, even if he's that good, Hazell will again probably try to "pound it between the tackles" to no avail.

all I can say is, if the team wins 4 or more games this year, then getting a new OC and DC was a good thing, if 2 or less wins then it was all on Hazell, and this coming season will be his last.

Mostly agree although I think/hope 5 wins is the absolute minimum threshold to keep him, particularly with a new AD.

I can only hope so. His last season should have been two years ago.
