Such a shame this isn't a real game . Anyhow anybody got the tip time?

Thoughts predictions

85-81 Purdue

So it's Sunday , early thread. Structured practice ? I'm not sure about that

He’s right.

This is the third time we’ve done this.

It’s like a scrimmage/practice hybrid. Score is kept but that’s really about it as far as a scrimmage deal goes.

Coaches will stop play in the middle of a sequence to teach the players, adjust things, run it again and again if they feel the need to. It really is like a practice.

I don't know, but suspect you are right. I don't think either is going all out for the W. It is about learning more on your players and teaching moments. Now, all coaches want to win or think with all the teaching moments they got what would be a win, but would think both coaches have unlimited timeouts, and do things the other coaches want them to do...a bit. I'm saying this and don't know, but thinking this will be "a" goal...

Yeah, I feel like both coaches will ask the other to do specific things at times to see how their own team responds.

I believe we lost bigly last year in this, maybe 2 years ago, let's hope for more positive results.

The positive response is practicing against 1 of the best, if not the best full court pressure defenses in college bb. We haven't had any trouble breaking the press since we started scrimmaging with them.

LOL this is a scrimmage/practice or whatever, but if you think both coaches don't want to come out with the higher score than the other......Then don't know what to say. Both teams are top 25 and I can with almost certainty they want to win.

Yep and pretty sure they won last year by around 20. Kids will want payback.

never had a problem with the press with ronnie Johnson and never had one with Carsen. It is more about personnel than practice...but it does allow Matt to see others under pressure. I can't recall if Huggie Bear runs a zone or man press...or both....

IIRC, Purdue lost to WVU last year, but beat Dayton the previous year.

I honestly don’t think painter cares about the score of this thing. He cares about getting experience for his players.

I picture the coaches stopping play very often as teaching moments; the score is irrelevant.

what's the reason we have to classify these scrimmages as secret if everybody knows about them? Can't we just call them a scrimmage? or would that take away from the hype that labeling them as secret does? are we afraid the result might affect the ratings?
