Headed to Purdue tomorrow and would like to see a basketball practice. Are they open to the public and if so what time is practice held?

If they are in Mackey you can stand at the entrance and watch what you can but if you stand long enough the managers will ask you to leave.

If it's in Cardinal you can watch through the windows and usually no one stops you

Later on, if you can give us a detailed summary of your observations from today's practice, I would definitely appreciate it.

When I was in college and it was Keady's last year, I made it a point to make it to one practice to watch him work. I went to the basketball office, spoke to the secretary and explained that I would be coaching my first team at the junior high level in a few weeks and would love to see what Coach Keady did with his practices. A few days later, I received an email saying that my request was granted and a practice packet would be available for me to pickup 30-45 minutes before practice would start. I went to the office, picked up my packet (contained the practice plan, a media guide, pen/pencil, and a pad of paper). Coach saw me and made a point to sit with me and explain some of the nuances of his offense and defense along with explaining the purposes of the drills he was running. That will be something I will always cherish.

Wow, that was very cool of Coach Keady!

Was at Mackey around 2pm.... It was open and we walked around but no one was practicing. The shades were pulled down on the Windows at Cardinal so I assume there was a secret practice taking place there. I hope this report helped. Tic

That's fine. You can only control so much. I hope everyone's starting to get used to playing together and that we'll see some new wrinkles on both sides of the ball this season.
