What is the scholarship count at?

Just curious how many scholarships are available for grad transfers, JUCO players, prep school or late recruits.

Also wondering how many will we be able to bring in for 2018.

Seeing PJ Fleck give the walk on a scholie via Easter eggs made me wonder. On a side note I like how programs do that (give a walk on a scholarship in a cool way) and get some publicity.

from what I can tell we are at exactly 85 scholarships based on incoming players plus the Spring roster. One that was always questionable to me was Garrett Hudson. I believe he was officially a walk-on to start, but I know his dad was on staff for three years so that may have effected his scholarship status too. He has one year left and may or may not be on scholarship. If he is on scholarship we are one over.

Three that come to mind are Green, Daniels, and Polk-Campbell. Green at least got some credit for working hard this spring, but Daniels and Polk-Campbell have done nothing in 4 years and it would be a shock to see them play.

I wrote about it today, but of the original 23 man recruiting class in Hazell's first year, only 7 are left, and another four finished their eligibility last season. That class produced only 5-7 real starters: Ra'Zahn Howard, DeAngelo Yancey, Jake Replogle, Da'Wan Hunte, Danny Ezechukwu, Leroy Clark, and Evan Panfil.

Only two of those guys are back (Hunte and Ezechukwu). We have as many starters (Danny Etling and Dalyn Dawkins) returning to other programs next year and one (Dan Monteroso) is playing Division II basketball.

Personally I'm ok with the oversigning this spring given what Brohm inherited. There are not many options to improve a roster in a matter of six months or so. Signing some hungry JuCo's and applying competition for roster spots is about it. In the future with time to recruit I would not expect oversigning to be a common practice.
