Everyday I see these graduate tranfers either committing or going on visits. Not one mention of Purdue! And they are quality players that are committing to descent schools but Purdue more intruiging. Like isaac Vann from Maine (avg like 17 pts/gm) visiting Iona,St Joes. Why isnt Purdue after this pt guard?
Is Painter even active right now. I see and hear of all the other coaches being out there recruitng, offering, etc. Well Purdue isnt. It is really worrisome. He has to be saving the schollies for something.....hopefully big.

Past history shows that at Purdue the late bird gets the best worms. The past couple of summers have brought Haas and Swanigan long after Painter should have used up all his schollies so their services would not have been needed. Too bad he waited so long and so quietly brought these lumps in. Admittedly no good recruiting happens in quiet or without the OP's knowledge.

I know right? He should be everywhere at once recruiting everyone all the time!
No, He just needs to go after Good Quality players. The kids from Maine is visiting IONA, and ST joes. If we cant step in and beat them then we have no chance. again he avg like 17 a game. He would fit this lineup great. he sure as hell would beat out PJ. Why isn't he going after these kids? Is he even trying?

You're right. I am sure he is just sitting at home reading these forums.

You do realize there are more kids than the ones you listed and threads discussing who we are after right? Also the list of people after one you mention might tell you something.

I'm not trying to defend him, but sometimes these threads are just silly.

WOW .... Why aren't you coaching in the B1G ... knowledge and energy like yours is rare.

I just did a quick check ... NO B1G school is after this guy, NO Big 12 school is after him, NO ACC school is after him. Geezus, why in the HECK aren't we ALL OVER him .... he must be a diamond in the rough that no one else knows about.

This whole board would LIGHT UP and CHEER if we stole him from Iona.

How do you know he hasn't inquired and the kid just wants to stay/play in the Northeast?

He turned down a B1G head coaching gig because the McD's in Gloomington offered him advancement to breakfast menu assistant manager on the graveyard shift. His decision was a wise one.

I know.... I had a shot of Ol' Gran'dad 114 before noon today .... it always makes me more gullible ...

By the last count I saw, there are almost 400 transfers this year. Of those 400, I suspect we will be seriously interested in less than 5 and offer even fewer than that. Everyone needs to take a deep breath and/or a shot.

Fire Painter!!! It's obvious he isn't recruiting these graduate transfers as hard as he could be!! We need a coach who's on the road 24/7 talking to every single option out there! He must go!

Here's a shocker for you....How about Painter knows what he needs, is looking for it, offering....and these players just don't like Purdue or West Lafayette? Unless the kid wants to come for an education, Purdue and West Laffy are not destination locations. Mean Gene and Painter have both done very respectable jobs getting kids to come.

Sounds like we've been in contact with the Charlie Moore kid out of Chicago that was committed to Memphis until their coach left. Sounds like we are one of many though and who knows if he is interested in us.

NO, NO, NO, NO, NOPE!!!!! Not doing enough for today's whiny, entitled babies. Next thing you know somebody will write Painter's name in chalk on campus and Purdue will go on lockdown and offer counseling to all the offended with promises of rainbows, unicorns and free hoodies.

What is a descent school, is it one that you would attend while climbing down Everest? Guess we will have to wait and see why these schools are able to snatch up such high quality players while we sit here with the worst PG in Texas history coming to our program. /tic

One solution to the problem is for you to stop looking and thinking that you are some kind of expert who knows who is and who isn't a "quality player" based on a stat line. Simply stop the behavior that is making you so worried. It certainly isn't MP's fault..

No effort what so ever. He and I hung out together eating Cheetos and watching the Masters all weekend. Kinda sad really.

By far one of the weirdest posts on this board. I am trying to decide if this is just some sort of troll post as it is your second message.

I guess I am getting a bit jaded by seeing some of the narcissistic crap trolls can post. The narcissism is one of the hallmarks of trolls. They seek attention, unwarranted attention on message boards. Evidently they can’t get enough attention in real life to satisfy their needs. Your question comes across this way, i hope you know.

My take on your question is that there are thousands of players we can offer (let’s just say 10,000 as a round number), but we can only take 2. That means there are 9,998 kids that will sign somewhere else, like Maine for example. Got it?

For those 99.9% of us with no true "inside" information, we have no clue what is really going on behind the scenes or exactly what the staff's current 2016 target board looks like.
For all we know, CMP might have several transfers of this quality ready to pull the trigger but is holding out for even bigger fish. So.. maybe no news is good news and shows the staff doesn't feel the need to reach just to fill holes immediately. Or maybe it's bad news. Maybe it's somewhere in between. Regardless, the only thing revealed by assumptions at this point are personal agendas.
All we can objectively go on is past experience, and while results have not been mind-blowing, the staff has done a pretty good job lately with grad transfers (Octeus, Hill) and late committing freshmen (Biggie). Remember, Hill was the earliest of those three to commit and that wasn't until May.

Brayden is a funny name for a basketball player's mom.

Thanks Hoosierdickhead for sharing that on another apparently lonely Saturday night with nothing else to do but come here. Wow.

Really? You "see and hear of all the other coaches being out there recruitng, offering, etc."? Really?

Who are the coaches from Duke, and Kentucky, and Marshall, and Toledo, and Kansas, and DePaul, and New Mexico State, and "all the other coaches" actively "recruitng, offering, etc."? Since you see and hear them, please enlighten us.

You might consider getting a hobby if this is the sort of thing that you find "really worrisome."

Painter is known around the country as being one of the worst coaches in the country
Actually, this is something Tom Cream has earned as far as reputations go, especially around the Indiana High School circuit. Painter, on the other hand, has been asked to participate in several international teams. That is what happens when you have a good reputation. How many international invitation teams has good ol' TC been asked to coach? I'll wait for your answer.... (cue the Jeopardy Theme)

CTC won B1G coach of the year and was in the running for national coach of the year. Painter lost in the 1st round of the tournament due to his ongoing inability to break a press. Neither are Tom Izzo or Coach K, but CTC is trending up while Painter seems to be trending down.

Crean has rubbed quite a few Indiana HS coaches the wrong way due to his propensity for offering kids and then later on pulling said offer. That rep may be fading due to him being in good standing with several of the top 2017 Indiana recruits, but for all I know it could still be hurting him. We may get a more definitive answer depending how Crean and Painter do respectively in Indiana recruiting for 2017.

Until this season Crean hadn't done anything at IU that Painter hadn't already done at Purdue. When you factor in the amount of 5 star talent Crean has had thanks to the profile of IU, I would imagine Painter would have added another B1G coach of the year to the 3 he already has, not to mention making it past the sweet 16.
But spin however you like. It seems to be working for you.

AJ was a big part of our Defense for sure but CMP can coach defense..back to back in the B1G shows that. We lacked a true PG that could create off the dribble or put a player in a better offensive position..hopefully CE or Spike gives us that. IU lost one of the best PG's in IU history along with TW who could create his own shot.

We had 1 question mark last yr at PG position...again we have it. IU has questions at almost every postition because they lost a great player who provided them with so much. Only in some irrational IU minds had TB going in the 1st rd this yr and possibly OG being a 1st rounder after 3-4 solid games.
