Sometime this month, Burke announces his retirement. It is not immediate but will become effective December 31, 2016. Daniels exercises his authority as president and hires someone next spring independent of the Purdue Athletic Department's 'old boy' network and connections. Someone with collegiate coaching / AD experience and understands the importance of intercollegiate sports in the largest, most visible conference in the country. This person will start in to summer or the beginning of fall semester at the latest. It will be this guy who will hire the next football HC at the end of next season. In the meantime, Morgan can raise money for the Freshmen women's archery complex, the only thing he gives a damn about.

As for football, expect another season like this one and pray that the new AD will hire a veteran HC or Coordinator with a successful track record.

You'll get none of the above. You'll get more of the same, and you'll like it.

This would seem more probable to me if we weren't committing $60 mil to new facilities. You would think that at some point somebody has to get serious about attracting some fans.

That is one reason behind my post. If the university is putting in that much money in the football facilities, then hiring a good cosching staff is not out of the question especially if Purdue hires an AD that is an advocate of the football program.

Purdue won't hire a football advocate.

It has been said you always know what qualities you were lacking when you see who they get to replace you. But with the President and BoT, I think they love how Morgan runs things and will find Morgan 2.0.

If Purdue were to hire an AD who is not a football advocate and has a strong football background, that would indicate they are going the way of the University of Chicago and dropping football. Even the low grade idiots on the BOT surely know that football drives the financial results of the athletic department. Red Mackey was a football guy but his successor. George King was a basketball guy. The results in those respective programs followed the leadership in place but even George King knew what drove the athletic department. MB an Olympic sports guy and he has built some great non revenue sports facilities while presiding over the fall of the revenue sports. Hopefully, MP has his act straightened out and blood flow problems resolved but the other two revenue sports continue to struggle under poor leadership.

I don't think non-revenue athletes should get scholarships. Did you ever wonder why a kid who can jump over a pole 7' off the ground in front of a near empty field house gets to go to college for free???
