I read we just offered the point guard from the Ohio school right next to Dakota's hometown. I like that his dad is his HS coach. The kids seem somewhat better groomed in this situation.

Anyone know his height off hand?

I looked it up

He's 5'11". He's been offered by OSU, Mich St., Illinois, and Xavier...hmm Xavier at Xavier.

Must be pretty good. Played AAU with Weatherford.

Re: I looked it up

nice............

my info says he has interest from those you list above but only offered by Illinois, Northwestern, Xavier and now Purdue.

Saw Grant Weatherford give him a shout out yesterday on twitter......

Boiler Up!

If Purdue Really Wants Him...

time for Painter to play the game and hire his Dad as part of the staff! I know, I know it's something we, Purdue, hasn't done BUT it is and has been done by other schools in the B1G and across the country and will be done again and unfortunately it is a part of recruiting. Some schools hire Coaching Dads and some schools hire AAU Coaches! IMO

110% disgree. I may be in the minority and that is fine, but reducing ourselves to cheap tricks just to maybe win more games because we landed a recruit, is just not worth it to me when it compromises our integrity. And the old line of "well everyone else does it" does float either.

Just my 2 cents.

Re: If Purdue Really Wants Him...

I would agree except if we had an opening, the guy was qualified, or if it was Glen Robinson type player dad....smhy.

Re: If Purdue Really Wants Him...

XS is the top PG in Ohio in the class of 2016. Ohio just seems deeper in its recruiting talent than Indiana lately. Additionally, Painter does not get the negative recruiting from fanatical fans and biased basketball people close to some of these recruits, out of state as compared to some of the whack job idiots who delight in that here in Indiana. Painter is recruiting Ohio harder than Indiana when it comes to the 2016 class.

As far as doing what it takes to land him, Painter will, but then so will everyone else.

I look for several new recruits to emerge this summer, besides the ones he is already pursuing for 2016.

Re: If Purdue Really Wants Him...

had Gary Harris' mom been given a position on the Women's bball staff, GH would have worn Old Gold & Black. Whether or not it's ethical to hire an assistant with the primary intention of getting a recruit...that's debatable.

Re: If Purdue Really Wants Him...

Keady lost Maglore sp to Kentucky on a similar legal move, Painter has lost recruits to IU when they hired an Indiana AAU coach, when does Purdue use the rules to their advantage too, to get a recruit, IF THEY REALLY WANT HIM, which I do not know if they really do or don't!

High Moral Ground doesn't always put wins on the board and it is not against the rules, so it is ok to disagree with me but it is the way it works sometimes with recruiting and it is done by the big boys and the little ones....once again it is not illegal!

I don't see how this is sustainable. First of all, how good does a kid have to be to hire his dad. Top 50? Top 5? Secondly, how frequently can you do it and still maintain some sort of continuity and real talent level in your limited coaching staff.

Re: If Purdue Really Wants Him...

Only Painter can answer that one, how bad does he feel he needs a PG versus what he has or can get by the next signing period! I am not saying to do it just to do it, but if he feels that he is the man than pull out all the stops!

Better yet, hire his mom and get results. Moms rule the nest. He'll sign the same day:)
