Well, in my opinion, not much. Just thinking out loud here-

I was glad to see the press was handled much better today. Still a lot of room for improvement. Not as many turnovers but still to many passes along sideline(Mathias) and the team has a tendency to leave the man getting pressured bringing it up the court by himself.

What we knew-
-Purdue can win tough games when it hits free throws.

-Even though Bryson Scott I though played pretty well today, Octeus has to be a lot smarter with 3+ fouls on him in the front part of the second half. He is one of three go to guys this team has. He cannot be on the bench.

-Purdue is good when it plays tough defense.

-Purdue is the type of team that needs to maximize each possession. Players got to be moving and cutting. At times that was non existent today. Purdue is not real explosive on offense so this magnifies this need. That definitely did not happen today.

Well, only 1 of 4 happened so Purdue got the L.

As for the game-

-Liked the three point shooting. Nice to see.

-As for maximizing each possession, AJH needed to touch the ball a lot more in the last five minutes. Kind of disappeared or was an afterthought at times. He does not need to shoot it but he needs to get fed more. Especially with other teams bigs in foul trouble and the double he draws.

-This team needs Vince Edwards healthy and playing more fast(and out of foul trouble). Smotherman can have some moments but I think he needs another year before he can contribute in games like this. Yes I know he has big games just not on this stage.

-As for really valuing possessions, Mathias and Stephens need to be much more crisp with their passing and cuts. A bit to nonchalant leads to some turnovers that result in easy points.

-The one conclusion from this game is that Purdue needs to find another inbounds passer. Mathias is not it. He has a tendency to inbound it along the sideline, not a quick decision maker, and misses open guys. He had Octeus open for a layup over the top during an inbound play and just missed it. Want to win games like this-have to make that play.
