It is like a soap opera. Seriously, other programs lap us like we are a broken down car in the Indy 500. This protracted hiring saga does not produce positive buzz in the sports world. Once it got beyond Sunday, I lost faith in "the process". If we truly had the $$$'s and a firm for talent scout as 3rd party agent, then we'd have had a contract and a name to hit the street running. I believe we're hardwired to self destruct! Listen to the song from Metallica and it says it all.;) Note: Foul langauge, turn it down if your at office or around little kids.

Prove me wrong Purdue, AD, and BOT. I'll say that I'm wrong on this forum. I'm not sold at this point.

Curious what programs are lapping us. IU promoted their DC. Was he your guy? It's been common knowledge since early this week that we won't hear anything official until this weekend's games are over.

I'm not referencing this 2016 year as there are not many changes, but of those that have changed, Texas, LSU and I.U. did it efficiently without much effort. They didn't weeks to do it. They acted on it in days or hours proving that having a short list and working hard on the negotiating contract might be savvy vs hiring a search firm to see if we can talk with said coach. If we land Brohm, I'm fine with it as we'll light up the scoreboard and track race team to finishes much like Tiller did. In a couple of years, we'll be back to respectability.
Moreover, I'm not sold on this process that Purdue is using right now and could have done this on their own if we land what is behind door #3. In all likelihood, if we hit the pavement on our own and found out the answers in the 6 week period, we could have had an announcement sooner than later. The secrecy and no news lets us all speculate. I for one think we'll have dropped the ball. Who knows maybe Brohm isn't the guy and we "SPLASH" with either a big name or hire energy guy. We'll see.
BTW, in the state where I live, Wisconsin hired their last head coach in an 8 day search. Andersen leaves on 12/10 and 12/18/14 Paul Chryst is announced. Yes, he was a known coach to Barry Alvarez, I get it.
Take the $$$'s your paying a search firm and make it a signing bonus, add another bonus if said new coach can assemble a qualified staff within 10 days. We'd have already been well on our way to a full staff by now.

EVERYONE PANIC!!!!!!!!!!

Texas and LSU seasons were over and after losing to Memphis so was Houston's other than a bowl game so it took one night for both to close! If we don't have a signed deal by Sunday then no announcement by Monday then I'll panic!

Coaches will not negotiate a contract during the season. No matter when Hazell was fired, the full effectiveness of a search firm could not be implemented until a full pool of candidates were in the offseason (unless Bobinski had his guy who wasn't currently coaching ala Miles for example). Most need to realize 95 percent of coaches are not hired until AFTER Conference Championship weekend. By the way the search firm is only to help negotiate terms of a contract, not recommend coaches for the program. A search firm can only do so much... the AD/BOT and the terms of the coac/agent hold all the cards here.

The "12" in the dating of your Wisconsin reference is a critical difference between them and us. Now that we're into championship weekend, things will fall into place. Stop worrying.

LSU and IU hire from within, of course it's quicker. Your example with Wisconsin was a former long time assistant and was done December 18th, after regular season. Again, much easier to hire after football is done and with a very familiar person. Purdue is going 'outside the family' and most likely announcing 2 days after the season is over, I say 'good work Purdue!'

I can't believe these posts.

They just get worse and worse. The AD comes out and gives a timeline...and the fans don't even let him complete the timeline.

I'm not convinced our fan base isn't full of idiots who have no clue how the business side of football works.

Fan base?
Seems more like just one or two
A lot of people think we should have a coach by now.

Most of them totally discounting that the coaches worth hiring are in the middle of finishing off CHAMPIONSHIP seasons. Getting experience that will serve them well if they choose to take our job.

Texas was the best job available. They got their guy after his season was over.

LSU hired internally. So did IU.

I would be panicked if other teams were out there snatching up guys. They aren't. Not yet. Panic is SEVERAL days away. Even then, we are near the top of the totem pole this time around in a deep market. We will be fine.
