Local young men have done well for Purdue. Hope you get a great education and opportunity to get on the field and contribute for some continued fun years ahead.

Note: To all the posters of not enough stars and undersized. Let Purdue coaches and S&C focus on that. Be a fan for what appears to be a good season in process.

I agree that he will be a contributer and possible star some day. He probably plays DT- Deen's position. Could he possibly play LEO? I thought we had a guy playing well there with similar dimensions.

Welcome.
Guessing this means a scholarship recently opened up for next year.

Haven't seen any number crunching to see where Purdue is sitting right now for the class of 2022.
Has anyone seen where Purdue sits now and how many more we can take on? I see 18 on the list. 20-25 are usually the #'s taken pending the needs. Transfer portal = different methodology that I'm unfamiliar with.

I wouldn’t think they would take more than 1-2 high schoolers at this pointz. Really need a CB so maybe just one. Unless a big name guy shakes free after a coaching change.

I think the portal will take up the rest of the spots

Is portal a 1 for 1 situation? 1 out...1 in. Supplanting spots already spoken for?

Purdue has to be close to the 85 number with the current commits, but as long they are down to 85 by spring ball with early enrollees (HS) and mid year transfer portal guys they’ll be fine.

Underclassman will leave during the summer to make room for the traditional high school enrollees

I have a feeling that Plummer will hit the portal.

Thank you for that clarification. What I forgot was the COVID year & overage allowance. The NCAA now wanting it settled back to 85 by Spring 2022 might be a challenge, but likely doable by Fall.

Purdue always kept it close to 85….some schools are really going to be forced to more or less cut guys by the 85 deadline.

I believe we are pretty close to 85 if not at it if everyone with eligibility were to return. But you know there will be attrition. The the way I look at it is the staff is likely 'reserving' a certain number of spots to upgrade positions of need immediately in 2022 through the transfer portal. It might be 1 for 1 with attrition numbers or it might not. That part doesn't really matter. They probably have a decent idea of which guys won't be back or at least are making assumptions. When I see a late commitment from a local guy MY assumption is that he has been on standby for awhile and finally got a committable offer. What drove that offer to committable is either the staff finally saw enough from him on film, or another option dried up, or an additional spot opened up. Maybe someone CJB was holding a spot for recently told the staff that he is graduating and moving on. Just speculating.

Hopefully, coach Brohm can find a few hidden gems that can be valuable contributors right away. If Purdue can make the similar type of leap on Offense that Defense made for 2021, it could be very exciting. That is assuming Defense stays at the same level it is now. Get 1 additional EA of experienced RB, QB and WR would be desirable. I suspect that we'll see portal activity out, hopefully, we get Grad Transfer or Portal Transfer in with game experience.
Roster shows 17 Fifth Year or Seniors + assumption G.K and DB3 going pro. 19 roster changeover.
With 18 verbally committed + 1 to match outgoing graduates & 1 additional over sign. 19 to 20 total. Room for maybe 1 more sounds right.

Grad transfer & portal transfer to aim for most coveted needs will be interesting come this December. Quite a difference as compared to hitting portal hard last Spring/Summer to field a quality team.
Hope grades and outgoing portal is kind to Purdue.

According to 247 he committed to Purdue 6 days from now. They certainly do have a crystal ball!

Just 2 stars and #40 recruit in the state. But I like that on his offer list is a few Ivy League schools. Not Notre Dame, Stanford or Duke though.

And Air Force and Army, The kid probably has lots of grit and will surprise us after a couple of years in the program.

I love this quote from his coach; "I can't overstate the kid's motor. He'll go until he's completely exhausted. And then we'll take one break and a sip of water and he'll go again. He's one of those kids that has outworked everyone on the football field."

You can't teach that.

Sounds like some of our current and recent past players that have succeeded the most.
