Not surprised. With Edwards coming in he would struggle to see time on the court.
Don't think Purdue is going after Neal.I agree, I don't fault him at all. I would like for us to be very aggressive in trying to nab Neal now. He would fill an immediate void, and we no longer have a log jam at PG.
good luck to Grant, wish he would have stayed and tried out for the football team, I would assume that this opens the door a little wider for Neal now although I would love us to get Savon Goodman from ASU. Could always use a tough player from PhillyGood luck to Grant. I was looking forward to seeing him play and was hoping for a little Kramer to emerge... hopefully he gets to play a lot wherever he lands.
And do we really need to? Yeah this puts pressure on Carson to come in and wow us... but I don't see the need for neal.Don't think Purdue is going after Neal.
Maybe not Neal, but there is a need for another experienced ball handler with or without Grant on the roster. Still holding out hope for another "right fit" 2016 grad transfer. But with Grant's scholly available you might now be more likely to take a flyer on another 2016 guard. And do we really need to? Yeah this puts pressure on Carson to come in and wow us... but I don't see the need for neal.
Would not be a big loss. He is not a Big 10 caliber guard. All over twitter now.
Really nage? Really? An apology for giving a marginal 3-star recruit an opportunity to play for a top 25 team while getting a top flight education? And who knows what promises were made, but from everything I've read there were no illusions that anything was going to be handed to him. It was recognized by nearly everyone that he was a project and best case a poor man's Chris Kramer but more likely an end of the bench team player. Everyone knew he had some ground to make up skill-wise. Players either develop as you hope or they don't. They aren't static entities. Some times things just don't work out. These are business decisions and often in the best interests of both parties. Unless Grant feels like he was treated unfairly why should any of us?I'm guessing the coaching staff (or more specifically, Painter) sat down with him and told him that they weren't expecting him to play much next season. I hope Painter at least apologized for offering him in the first place if he didn't forsee him playing much.

He wasn't a scholarship-worthy player at Purdue in the first place. That's why I hope Painter was apologetic to a degree in his talks with Weatherford.
You don't have the first clue what the discussions were between those two either when he was being recruited or after the season.
I never said I did. That's why I used the words "guessing" and "hope". I know he was offered and accepted it and now I know he's transferring. Your dislike for my posts because I don't agree with you on the state of the program is showing.
He visited Ole Miss last weekend and is visiting A&M on the 8th .... no other visits scheduled.Every article about Neal I've read lists Purdue as one of the schools who have shown interest in Neal. What makes you guys think we aren't pursuing him?

Ole Miss lost both their PGs.
Good to see our players are now being Creaned, especially ones we offered because they reminded us of CHRIS KRAMER. But lets just start another "Fire Coach X" thread because we don't want to deal with the reality that is Purdue Basketball right now.
That is not Creaning. That is professional, mature analysis and honest discussion of that analysis with a player who we gave a scholarship to and would have honored that scholarship. We didn't need to free up the scholarship. Every player that is recruited knows that if a better player at their position wants to come here next year, we will take them. There is no mystery to that.Good to see our players are now being Creaned, especially ones we offered because they reminded us of CHRIS KRAMER. Ah, well now. That is more interesting. Bottom line is that he has not scheduled a visit here. Two left.Pretty sure I saw today that he is visiting Ohio State in April too.
I don't feel going after Neal is what we really need to do. I think we need another post guy to crash the boards when Haas isn't in. Unless Taylor shows he's ready I think we should consider a big.
Apologetic? For giving a kid a full ride to attend a top academic institution and the opportunity to be on a top 20 basketball team? That's a very odd perspective. He wasn't a scholarship-worthy player at Purdue in the first place. That's why I hope Painter was apologetic to a degree in his talks with Weatherford.

Yes, because it makes much more sense to turn every thread into a "Bash Painter" thread because we don't want to deal with the reality that is Purdue Basketball right now.Good to see our players are now being Creaned, especially ones we offered because they reminded us of CHRIS KRAMER. Stand pat with what we have. DM has proven he can play the point as well. Stockpile scholarships for 17 & 18 unless we can get a stud transfer. Neal is not a stud transfer
As long as we don't end up with another player that can't shoot. We don't need anymore of those. They can recruit quality grad transfers and won't lose those scholarships for 2017 (or 2018).
You said that MP should be apologetic. I'll repeat:He shouldn't have offered him in the first place if the reason Weatherford is transferring is due to a projected lack of playing time in the future. Most of us posting here thought it was a reach as aoon as the offer was made public information. It shouldn't be that difficult for you to understand this scenario.
I understand what you are saying, but by red shirting this year, he has to sit next year under the transfer rule, which means he loses a year of playing, unless he transfers down to D2, in which case I ask what was CMP thinking wasting a scholly on a D2 kid. Hurt the kid IMO.You said that MP should be apologetic. I'll repeat:

Yes, I find your stand very difficult to understand. Surely you understand why!

The word apologetic is being used in the very possible scenario that CMP encouraged Weatherford to look elsewhere (i.e. other schools) for more playing time in the future. Again, this shouldn't be that difficult for you to understand.
