Keep an eye out for Monday too. There could be an announcement from the BoT. If Walters is fired, I don't see how the AD leadership (Bobinski and Grimes) survive this. They hired Walters and let this program collapse; this is on their watch. To think where the FB program was just 2 short years ago to where it is now. And the trajectory for next year shows no promise of any measurable improvement with the current leadership. Players are decommitting and fans are cancelling next year's tickets.

To look at the condition of the FB program now (i.e.: its coaching staff, roster, incoming recruits, etc.), it is almost like it is the first season following a Death Penalty. It was a self-induced Death Penalty but from the AD leadership.

It is time for a change in leadership for the Athletic Department. New vision, new priorities, new goals, new accountabilities. This is not acceptable. It goes beyond Walters.

Anyone here feel like running the numbers in terms of the financial impact of him not getting fired?
What would that mean from the number of season tickets sold for next year:
Concessions, parking, merch, decrease in donor support, etc.
It could be in the 10s of millions, which is a fireable offense for Mbob and Grimes.

I’ve seen each game is a $15mil event for the AD if sold out. That’s all in with tickets, parking, concessions, etc.

With 7 home games, kinda silly to keep a guy who’s buyout is almost a rounding error in comparison to what you’ll miss out on per gameday when people do t show up

Care to venture a guess on what % of season ticket holders this year (was it north of 40K?) won't renew for next year if Walters is retained? Could it be as high as 50%?

.......still, nothing.

It should have been an 8AM press release.

I was reading some of the posts from former Purdue players on X last night. As Hunt said, it is 100% coaching. He was talking about how Haze would try to run him up the middle when we had a massive FB, Cottem.

It’s funny…I remember those debates on here.

Seems moot now that it looks like he’s gone.

I’d say most ticket holders barely know who the coach is. It’s why the fan base was still excited about football coming off of Brohm and why we packed RA this year even after going 4-8.

I think even if we hire a coach who SHOULD put butts in seats we’ll still see a fall in season tickets just because of the bad results this year.

I think firing him stems the tide from 30-40% drop to 10-20%

That’s still a significant difference in revenue.
