still wish we could have landed him. After Biggie leaves he could have stepped right in and a legacy guy too.

I don't remember how that recruitment went down. Did we offer him? I remember GBI writing a few things about Purdue recruiting him early in the process. I wonder what happened there?

Feel like he was heavily recruited by some bigger schools early on. Then as time went on they all cooled on him. Still can be a solid player in the long run with good coaching.

he was offered and some feedback on him was he's a little too stiff or something like that, but I thought he was a good 4 star big to go along w Carsen in last years class

After starting way too physical, I thought he settled down & became their most effective defender in the post. I was also surprised with his ability to knock down a 15 footer.

Enthusiastic kid with a bright future, but it's not surprising that he chose NU given the depth chart.

Maybe he wanted a major which Northwestern has, and which Purdue likely does not. Since so few of these kids will play pro ball, this is an overlooked factor.

We once had a good relationship with the Illinois Wolves AAU team that went south . I have no clue as to why but we no longer recruit their players that I know of . I believe the decline happened with Keita Bates Diop . As for Benson he was hot and cold on Purdue but once we pulled back on Jordan Ash he swung to NW .

If the choice was both of them or none, I think CMP made the right choice.

Have they had any really good players recently oldboiler?

Exactly what OB52 said above.......

I actually am glad we passed on him because he travels every time he touches the ball.

Him and Skelly do and very mechanical still....needs to let it flow.......

All good glad with the guys we have and coming in.

Forgot about Jordan Ash. Yeah not too disappointed we lost that fight. Also I was surprised to see how good of shape Benson was in. In the AAU clips I remember of him while we recruited him he looked more pudgy and not as quick on his feet. Props to him for getting his body right. It has obviously paid off from what I can tell.

Likely wouldn't have Carsen Edwards if Watson was here...I think Edwards is more dynamic with a higher ceiling.
Very possible that Carson goes elsewhere...although Watson has shown improvement from year 1 to year 2...and hope Carson shows that drive...which I think he will as well!

I am not sure that I agree. Watson has really progressed nicely and is one of the best point guards in the Big Ten already. Edwards might be as good next season, but it won't be easy to improve that much.

I would have liked to have seen Painter land Watson and take his chances trying to land Edwards. Get them both and Purdue has a dynamic backcourt for years. (That said, Edwards/Eastern has a chance to be an excellent backcourt, as well. I can't complain.)
