I know it seems we've been out of the running for Robinson and Weaver for a while but was wondering with GBI doing an article on Weaver and retweeting Robinson commitment date if there is some kind of outside chance. I figured why would they bother if there was no chance.
I've seen nothing anywhere that says we're in the running. We don't get a sniff on Crystal Ball. Heck they got Duke ahead of us on crystal ball.
I did see Paul Piferi commented on Robinsons announcement and Wandale gave him the eye ball emoji that Brady Brohm uses as smoke signals.
Just wondering. I'm not asking for info from the pay side of GBI, just if there was other info out there

We've been right in the thick of things with Weaver, don't think anyone has said we're on the outside on that one, we'll be right there at the end. Robinson is for sure not coming here, it'll be Nebraska or Kentucky.

Yeah, it seems he's heavy on Nebraska. I thought it was interesting Piferi was the only one he commented on as far as I seen.

Based on what he has said about our program and our coaching staff, I believe we have as good a shot as anyone with him. My only question is when is he announcing? 247Sports count down currently shows him committing in 5 days and 11 hours. According to Rivals it is late November. So which is it?

Robinson had a tweet saying he's announcing Thursday. Not sure on Weaver. Maybe end of month.

I think you meant Andre Rison isn’t coming here.. they are twins

Barclay put out a tweet that was the hourglass’s emoji . Robinson is committing this week, Wright is supposed to be close, and Logan Parr 2020 4 Star OL is committing tonight. A few options to pick from.

I think you right but check out this link. Look at the commit count down.

https://247sports.com/player/jj-weaver-46035310/

There is a link to how his Louisville visit went as well. If he moved up his time line right after the visit, it’s possible Louisville got a soft commitment during his visit and he will announce this week. Louisville sold playing time and a need for him right away.

Weaver has all of the physical tools to be very successful right away. He was at several of the elite camps and looked pretty good against great competition. I am sure it is pretty close between the favorites and he would be a good fit at all of them.

If I were to guess, and the timer is correct, I would say Louisville ends up with him. If he sticks to his birthday announcement, I would give Kentucky the edge. Weaver was the guy I wanted to see on the defense just as much as GK and Grant. Wherever he goes is getting a very good player.

247 has had 11/3 and he’s said he’s announci on his birthday which is believed to be 11/30. Talking about Weaver.

If 247 just missed the 0 and indeed he commits as he said, Purdue’s chances go up (although I think Kentucky is the runway favorite). I don’t think there is anything else Purdue could have done differently. If he wants to get out of Kentucky and stay close, Purdue is his best option. We shall see.

Based on Robinsons prior tweets and very recent changes in CB, it seems likely he is going to Nebraska.
Parra has picked up some recent CBs for Texas. If we walk away with just Wright, I will be happy as it appears we are not front runners on the other two.

Wandale's dad I think tweeted a final 3 of OSU, Nebraska and UK. Seems to be a heavy Nebraska lean.

Weaver wants to stay close to Louisville, but maybe not too close. A lot of things Weaver has said were basically he wants to make sure CJB is staying here. Looks like close to a toss-up between UK and Purdue.

That is interesting re Weaver as I had read at some point that was Wright’s concern as well.

I want Brohm for AT LEAST this 1 more year. HUGE influx of talent that if we hire at least a decent coach we will be in good shape moving forward.

I do too but whether it is 1 or 4 years if we sustain this success I would hope we would do what it takes to keep as much staff as possible to keep our momentum going including potentially hiring holt as HC.

I'd try and hire Holt. If not, go after Sumlin or another young up and comer.

Brohm has done us a favor and made our job a bit more marketable for an up and comer.

Holt's a great D coach, we will always need a great O coach to lead our program IMO. Someone like the coach at Memphis comes to mind.

I highly doubt Brohm is going to leave. He has it made here and likes the challenge. He has said anyone can win at Alabama and Ohio State as an example. He has a different DNA and wants to build and win here. He thinks he can and many others believe it to.

I think he stays around too, seems similar to Mike Leach, who is on record saying he's only interested in rebuilds not reloads.

I agree, but in 4 years when he has built a strong program here and if Louisville parts ways with Petrino and there is a mess left behind, would Brohm want the challenge to rebuild Louisville?

If Brohm left and brought his brother with him and Holt was our new HC, technically we would be set at OC/DC since Jemarcus Shepherd and Anthony Poindexter are co-coordinators already. I would suspect those guys would find losing the "co-" and staying home at Purdue would be appealing than following Brohm to a new location that likely will not have the caliber of players as PU at that time.

When Brohm was hired, one of the reasons I think we ended up with him was there just simply was not a lot of new coaches moving around since so many of the larger programs hired from within. Due to our high caliber recruits, I think it would be risky bringing in someone new. Someone like Sumlin might be the exception since the reward could be more likely a long term coach (if we are successful with Holt, we will still hear everyone saying he will bail especially with his roots in the Pac-12).

I did not notice you posted this yesterday. Logan Parr committed to Texas last night.

Looks like that was for this?

It looks like Robinson is going to Nebraska. 247sports is picking him to Nebraska heavily over the last 2 days. The analysts seem to play follow the leader once it seems certain.

Milton Wright is close to 70% us now with Steve Wiltfong picking us and Jody Demling, who does items for Louisville Authority, picking us. I would say that is a good sign.

Is Wright visiting this weekend? If so, I guess we would have him and Bell visiting at the same time. Maybe they can strike up a relationship this weekend and decide to play together with Moore??

Starting to feel good about Wright. Not sure on Bell though. I know the guy that had the mailbag questions on Twitter had us in lead for him but not by much and not a sure thing. That was before Auburn offer too.
I saw on Brady Brohm Twitter that we offered a JuCo receiver yesterday. Hope it has nothing to do with any feelings Purdue may having about Bell or if it's just a contingency in case Bell goes elsewhere

I think we need 5 more threads talking about is brohm going to stay or leave us, don't you? I heard my brother's son's girl friend's dog's puppy suggest he was thinking of moving to North Dakota to take the USF job. A rather long commute.

Honestly, does every thread have to include 5-10 posts of what if brohm leaves? You guys are becoming worse than the GAY trolls.

if he leaves, he leaves. Worry about it when it happens. Some of you act and post as if it's a forgone conclusion he'll leave. Some of you posted he'll leave before he was even hired as this would just be a stepping stone job for him, and he'll just stay temporary until the Louisville job - his supposed dream job - opens up. That dream job is becoming a nightmare.

Give it a rest. Brohm is here for the long term. yes, he will be rumored. Even Ppainter was rumored to be looking at other jobs. I'm quite sure our AD will do what it takes to keep him. and if he does leave, I've got confidence our AD will find another coach just as good. Morgan is no longer in charge. ;)

I don’t have usually ever have inside information, but I spoke with somebody close to Bell’s situation. Was told that the Auburn won’t have an affect on his decision and he will end up in the Big Ten. He was pretty confident even though Bell has got the offer just 5 days prior. Bell and those around him have really noticed what Moore and Brohm have done and how it would be the perfect fit for him. I didn’t go into the other schools, but Purdue is in good shape with Bell. Purdue is a great fit and he knows it.

Should Brohm make the unlikely decision to leave Purdue, Mike Bobinski will not hire a coach without a proven record of success as a head coach with a wide open spread offense.

Thanks. I didn't see that.

As I have said on a few previous posts, I think he ends up at UK.

What is this Stick Purdue? I just checked Rivals and 247 and saw nothing that would confirm it except a report from a Miami Rivals guy saying he was delaying his decision until Nov. 30th.
