Since Walters says he can turn things around don't be surprise if Purdue gives him an extension and a raise. After all, how hard would it be for anyone to improve from 1 and 11!

Anyone on the staff who knows what shape a football is could probably do that! Time to get used to the fact that Purdue will be the laughing stock of the Big 10 for years to come!

Purdue would be smart to call his bluff about his claim that he knows how to turn things around! Purdue should see if he agrees to have his contract reworked! He gets one more year at his current rate, and if the program does not improve he is fired and does not get the remainder of his contract as severance! If it improves gets a contract extension and a raise. I doubt very much he would agree, to those terms, but at least Purdue would know if he is just giving them a line of BS ori he is serious!

Theres not enough nil money in the world that can fix walters. Team fundamentals have gotten progressively worse since his time here. Especially on defence which was supposed to be his expertise.

Remember hearing the same thing when Brohm took over from Hazell and we made a bowl game his first year. Don't underestimate the difference a good coach makes. It's different now with NIL and I'm not sure what our schedule looks like next season but a good coach with minimal talent will still put a far superior product on the field compared to what we saw this year.

To me it's not even about the win total next year. It's about displaying competency and competing. Idk how many here are old enough to remember Painter's first season as head coach when we lost our two best players and were starting some bench players and a walk on most all season long. The way they competed was still a big breath of fresh air. Record was certainly not good but you could tell things were in good hands going forward. If we could walk away from next season feeling like the coaches know what they are doing we would all feel much better.

The right coach and staff can turn this program around fairly quickly... The good players that are invested on the current team will stay if the coach is a proven winner. The new coach will bring some of his own players and recruits with him as well.
Things are so fluid in collage sports today that we can see how fast a program can fall and rise....

I'd say you have to get creative in the portal and go find guys from P5 programs are are talented, just not talented enough to start on their current team for whatever reason. Mold that puzzle into a strong team. We already see that high school players don't believe in Walters so you can't go that route.
