There are a lot of fingers being pointed at Walters for losing. I’m beginning to believe it’s not Walters but rather his assistant coaches that need to be replaced.

Look at recruiting. Usually it is the assistant coach that does the bulk of recruiting. Look at Iowa. Their offensive line coach was the main reason they recruited so many great offensive linemen. Look at Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno. They didn’t recruit anybody. Their assistants did.

Look at strength, conditioning and development. Purdue has been terrible at this for the past 2 decades. Purdue simply doesn’t develop any talent it recruits. Look at WR Moore and George K. Moore’s best season was his freshman year, before Purdue tried to develop him . George K came to Purdue with talent. How much did he elevate his game?

Look at game calling. Our play calling on offense is terrible as are our schemes. Our blocking schemes are terrible. Our defensive schemes are terrible. Is that the fault of the head coach or his coordinators?

I look at Purdue and then I look at Nebraska. Nebraska has been terrible since it joined the Big 10. Why? Because its coaches employed a style of football that never matched the type of player that was a typical Nebraska recruit. Their recruiting base is big slow guys meant for run blocking. They were never meant to be a flashy passing attack. The Florida style doesn’t work in Nebraska.

I look at Lane Kiffin and Monty Kiffin. Who is the better coach? It’s Monty! And he’s basically a super guru assistant coach. Tony Dungy was an awesome assistant coach.

Walters hired a bunch of experienced assistants. Their resumes were good. But their schemes are just not working at Purdue.

My suggestions? Rather than forking out more money for the head coach position, Purdue needs to spend more money and bring in some of the top assistants. They could improve recruiting, better player development and better schemes!

The real problem is not the head coach. It’s the total lack of development of our players! We are not elevating anybody’s game to a higher level.

Look at Card. This is his last year. He was better at Texas than he has been this year. I don’t blame Walters for his regression! I blame our assistant coaches.

I can relate well to track athletes. Usually it’s the head coach that accepts the glory and the blame. But it is the assistant coaches that recruit the players and develop them to do their personal best. And when they do, it’s that assistant coach they thank when they reach that goal.

The head coach builds staff. It’s the staff that builds the team.

Good points but it overlooks the fact that Walters is a dead man walking and everyone knows it. Even if he could replace the assistant coaches no one worth a crap would come in.

Assistants do matter. Look at what NFL Hall of Famer has done with the defensive line at Colorado. They are a sack machine this season. Colorado has several folks that vlog practice and post on YouTube daily. You can see the next level techniques Sapp is teaching the DL. Sapp’s intensity alone is inspiring the young men on the DL. Both OC and DC had NFL coordinator experience.

He picked this staff...don't trust him to pick the next..if IU can give Cig an 8 mill a yr contract ...then we can afford to buy out Walters contract!

So CRW picked stooges for assistant coaches.....He should be fired for doing so.
You wasted a lot of time generating a stupid post!!

No way Bobo is keeping him...his reputation is on the line...he knows there will be no asses in the seats next yr.....on top of recruits leaving...talent will be very minimal at best next yr,and we can't let Walters pick a new staff let alone judge portal talent!! None of the athletes he has picked from the portal the last 2 yrs has produced. Need a coach that can bring his staff and hopefully a handful of his players too.

You’ve clearly lost your damn mind
And you know zero about how winning football teams are built. All you know about is name calling! How typical of the replies from people on this board . Anything else you want to add? Is that the best you can throw at me?

Rather than a stupid post, I was pointing out the obvious and provided examples to back up my point. Look at Iowa! Look at their offensive line coach. He was one of the most respected college offensive line coaches. Look at Monty Kiffin. Looking back at college history, anybody that followed the game of college football knew Paterno and Bowden were more of a figurehead and it was their assistants who were recruiting and running the program.

I guess you’re just drunk after watching another blow out loss and I’m your target to yell at!

It’s nice to see Purdue scored 10 points today. That’s more than usual.

As for BOBO, the game was a sell out, so he did his job of hyping this team before the season started.

Remember it’s not about the score or opponent that counts. It’s about winning. If your team wins, the fans are happy. And if you keep winning, it doesn’t matter what your strength of schedule is or who your non-conference opponents are. Just ask any IU fan if they care who they beat this year. And look at their rating! The pollsters could care less who they played or beat.

It must hurt being a Purdue fan. They suck this year. They ducked when I went to Purdue. But I didn’t feel the need to call other Purdue fans names just because our team sucked! However, that sure isn’t the case in this forum!

So go ahead , call my posts stupid! Your posts are a reflection of your own self.

Did you lose money betting on the spread? Not me!

And look at Colorado. They have an assistant who taught their d line how to play!

Successful teams are dependent on their assistant coaches, not their head coach.

If you took any time to research recruiting, it’s the assistant coaches who do all of the recruiting and getting players to come to a school. It’s the assistant coach that players relate to. It’s the assistant coach that develops players. It’s the assistants that call the plays!

You say I know nothing. If you didn’t know and realize this, then you know less than me. So what does that say about you?

You sure are awesome name callers, but can you do anything else? Can you make fries?

Did anyone catch near the end of the game, Danielson said he had a conversation with CRW that since he had been told he will be back next season if he was going to continue to call the offense in’25? His answer was no. I’ve got someone picked out already.

I think Walters needed about four years of "seasoning". That means that Bo screwed up this pick and he needs to go.

BS, It's Walters job. and Bobinski's

No assistant that is any good or players will come to our Dumpster Fire. While I hate to say it Walters needs to go after the IU game. Throw some major $$$ at a Kiffin or the Georgia Tech’s Head coach and get on with the rebuild!

Colorado has Deion. Of course, he could pick assistant coaches or they would want to coach for him. They have also made football a big time commitment. Alabama had several assistant coaches that went on to bigger things when they had Saban. You can say etc. for several other colleges. No one in their right mind would want to do this for Walters.

As far as making fries, that is what IU fans are good at.

I don’t really like the option I feel like it’s hit or miss and contrary to our cradle of qb legacy.

Kiffin throws the ball a lot as his current QB just became the leading passer in history passing Eli Manning at Ole Miss and has another QB in the NFL he coached at Ole Miss. IMHO he fits the bill to a T and maybe interested in getting away from the Big Dawgs in the SEC.
