A lot of times conference tourney champs don't go deep. I think a deep run in the conference tourney can sometimes fatigue teams come the NCAA tourney

That's a logical response, but I want to see data on if this is actually true.

Last year 3 of the FF teams didn't win their conference tournaments. MSU and Purdue fell to inferior opponents after they played in the BTT final

I voted tourney because I think we already have at least a tie for the regular season.
Agree. Assuming UW loses to MSU we would have to lose out to not get at least a share and that is just not likely to happen.

I can see us losing to UM as they are playing well for the most part, but crean has lost control of his team and it could be ugly when we play IU.

That poll wouldn't answer my question.
if a round robin was played...NO QUESTION...the season. "IF" the unbalanced schedule allowed you to beat the top two or three twice...the season becasue the season has a longer duration of playing. With the unbalanced and not playing the best twice, then perhaps the tourney? Every year would be judged on that criteria, but winning both would help fill that void. Michigan is NOT going to be a pushover. Purdue I know will be tuned in and hopefully that translates to effective play...

FIFY

Without the distraction of a final four option... Which would you rather see?

At first I was going to say outright Big Ten regular season champs because that hasn't happened since 1996, but we haven't had much luck in the Big Ten tournament, so the tourney win would mean a bit more. The obvious answer is we want both to go with at least a final four run.

Both would be nice, but if I could only have one, I would take the outright Big Ten Regular Season Title! Even though the automatic NCAA invite goes to the BTT champion, the regular season title seems more meaningful! 2+ months of basketball vs. a long weekend of basketball. Actually, I don't really get why the tournament champion gets the automatic invite. Seems backwards to me.

Right, but that's anecdotal. The year before, Wisconsin and MSU were in the conference championship and made the final four. Equally anecdotal. So I wonder if anyone has actually studied this in detail

When it started years ago in the ACC it was a method to possibly get more teams in the tourney

I've always been a season guy. A championship for 18 games means more than over 3 games.

But as unbalanced add the schedule is now, I at least understand the other side of it.

That's why one of my strongest opinions is that the B10 season should be increased to at least 22 games. More money for conference teams, more rivalry games, more notoriety in the press, more meaningful champ, etc.

Had you asked this question at the beginning of the season I would say regular season championship. . But given the choice at this point, I'd like to see a big 10 tournament championship. No question Purdue will finish at least among the top of the conference in the regular season, and so that coupled with a high regular season ranking would get them a better seed than winning the conference and losing the first game of the tournament. So far they have done nothing to ensure they will finish among the top teams in the tournament, only because it hasn't started yet. Because math or statistics or something ;)

i want it all including a deep run in the ncaa. what do i expect? regular season title and make it to btt final and at least a sweet sixteen .
