Coach Matt Painter on Vince Edwards: ‘From watching him in practice, he's probably our most improved guy.’

If that was quoted correctly he's going to be a stud. Hell, he was already pretty good as we know.

From the videos I have seen, he does seem to be more confident and aggressive. To me that is what he was lacking a bit last year. Can't wait for the season to start!

Think about how much Vince had to improve for this to be true. Kendall and Dakota probably both made huge jumps since this is their first healthy offseason. PJ substantially matured over in China. AJ woke up. If Vince improved more than all of them he's 1st-Team All-B1G this year.

Last year I referred to Vince as "Lebron." I wasn't implying that he was as dominant as James. Just that he had that same breed of ability and versatility. This year, he might actually be as dominant as James.

He'll be good but I'm beginning to believe you live in a state where pot is easy to get.

Do you really need to compare him to one of the best players to ever play the game? That's not a realistic comparison and it's unfair to VE to go there.

It's a troll. The same guy that's always on here using multiple handles. I thought some of you would have figured that out by now.

Even though he's a very good passer, I believe it will benefit the team for him to be more aggressive in looking to break down defenses and shooting more when he has a good open looks. He shot 51 FT's as a freshman. He's capable of drawing fouls and getting to the line more often than that.

I've read reports and seen videos (like the ones posted on here) that seem to indicate he's improved his athleticism, too. I don't know if he's any bigger or stronger, but I sure hope that is the case. His defense and willingness to be physical on defense (i.e. drawing charges) is probably his biggest weakness right now. If he improves in that area and with his overall handles (tightening up his dribble, etc.), he can be an awesome player and teammate. He has a lot of strengths in his game (good shooting stroke, court vision, passing ability, etc.)

It's true. I found the link. Vince is vastly improved. Purdue will win in College Park.

Your consistent and determined disingenuous hyperbole is impressive. Just think what you'd be writing if you actually liked Purdue.

Use the ignore option, then you won't have to read anymore troll posts from Aaron Schall and the endless supply of handles he creates on here.

Last year he was very efficient offensively, really good passer, really good offensive rebounder, but disappeared offensively sometimes.

He should be more confident and dynamic offensively, even better passing, even better rebounder, although he'll have to fight Hammons and Swanigan for them. Sounds like he's worked on getting his shot off quicker, so maybe his 3-point shooting takes another step as well.

I know I've mentioned it before, but I wouldn't mind seeing Edwards play the 1 on offense at times IF Hill or Thompson struggle to be scoring threats or make plays and generate a scoring offense. Some have mentioned having Mathias or Davis fill in at the 1 at times on offense if it gives a lineup 5 legit scoring threats, but I think VE could do that as well.

I doubt dribbling and general handling skills were a primary focus of Vince's offseason work, but if they could be next year or the year after, he could transform his game and possibly be unstoppable as a legit PG threat as well as being able to play the 2, 3, and 4. I know that the 3 is his most natural fit right now but he'll be even more dangerous if he can bring and move the ball up against pressure and dictate the halfcourt attack.

CMP continues to compare him to Hummel. Edwards is so versatile the offense can't help but run through him. Point guard? Not really. Point forward? More accurate. Btfu!

I am saying that if he would get the green light to play the 1 and would work diligently on his dribbling and ball-handling skills in general (think next offseason), that he could play the 1 similar to how Evan Turner played the 1 a couple of seasons for Ohio State several years back.

I think since Vince inbounds the ball anyway. That he and Ray would have no problem bringing the ball up. With their size, at least one bigger player would be gaurding one of them and if not, we have a mismatch in the front court waiting to be taken advantage of.

So basically he lives in a state

lol

surely there are exceptions.....Utah?

as for the VE - Evan Turner comparison, its too early to know if VE has that kind of ceiling....Turner was a #2 draft pick after all......but first year comparisons stack up well

Turner - 27.1 minutes, 8.5ppg, 4.4rpg, 2.6apg - 2.7 to

VE - 26.9 minutes, 8.8ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.7apg-1.5 to

Like Scottie with the Bulls, a point forward. He does not match up with quick point guards but really all you need is 3 guys that can handle the ball and you will break most presses. VE is not a dominant player, at least yet, as he did not dominate the scrimmage. Top scorer, CS, top rebounder, CS. He got accolades for a reason, though I think (hope) he stays 2 years.

No, I think he's more of a cross between Larry Bird and Elgin Baylor myself.

There are similarities certainly, but they approach the game differently. Turner loved to have the ball in his hands. Edwards keeps it moving.
