Two teams we beat in November, one has an experienced great coach and another is a rookie coach. Both coaches have their team playing their best basketball when it counts! One used the portal to his benefit. Both have developed their team through the course of the season and both are now in the elite eight! I got blasted when I posted in January that Purdue was overrated and Painter was also overrated. Whether Purdue was overrated can be debated, but Painter is an above-average coach Not a great coach! His ability to develop his teams to play their best basketball when it counts speaks for itself and if he coaches for 10 more years it is likely he should reach another elite eight! He will win a lot more games for sure, but I have no confidence he has the coaching chops to get us to a Final Four and a National Championship! Time will tell, but one thing I am sure of is that Purdue will never fire him he will leave when he is ready because we are Purdue and above average is good enough.
