these teams are playing good defense. we could learn a bit from them. what we called defense this year pales in comparison
I'd love to see Virginia win it all. Along with ND, I'll be pulling for both.
I have always thought Self was a classy guy. He gets more heat from any top program fan base. BTW I'd like to point out that Nova was a 2 seed and a 1 seed last 2 years and lost in 2nd rd. This year they were a 2 seed and finally got to Final 4. I could only fathom what the Purdue fan base would do to Painter under similar circumstances.
Wisky kinda blew that game against ND. I have never considered Brey a great coach. In fact ND for several years was win maybe 1 game in tourney and lose. These past 2 years talent has gotten them to 2 elite 8's. Brey credited leadership on the court. ND also had 2 NBA PG's the last 2 years. I was at work during Gonzaga - Syracuse game. I walked away from TV after Zags got a 9 pt lead with maybe 7 mins left thinking they were going to win. I was surprised they lost. The 30 sec shot clock might be reason these teams are blowing all these leads in the tourney.
The Tourney shows what conferences were the best. ACC has shined. The Big 10 in hindsight was not as good as I thought. Watching these sweet 16 games. If a team had a wide open look at 3. The shot was good. Purdue has been inconsistent from 3's during the last 2 season's. Bricks by shooters that were good looks. Other then AJ the best talent on Purdue was freshmen and soph's. Purdue's best talent is now Juniors and Soph's and all the players from those 2 ugly season sans Stephens are now gone. I am really interested to see this coming year's team and expect this folding up in the last 5 minutes to stop. It's on this crop of players as much as it's on Painter.
I agree about the coming season. And I expect Haas to step in and be the leader on the team.
I doubt it re" Haas. He seems like a big kid when he is sitting on the bench. Maybe Vince can lead or Kendall if he gets his act together and decides to play hard. Leadership may be the big issue next year. Maybe Basil after taking off a year can get it done. He seemingly has the best chance.
