I guess a guy that goes for a season high in points and career high in rebounds needs his own thread.....I think I take his greatness for granted sometimes. He has been a beast on the boards this year, and has really lifted the Boilers that way this year. His D in the second half was just pretty stout too. Most of all, I like how he just lets the game come to him and exploits opportunities that come his way. So glad he is a Boiler, and thought after a big-time monster game like that he deserved his own thread.

And if you want to see the type of teammate he is, just go watch the video clip in the "Luce on SVP" post. Vince had a career night, but he was most excited when he was jumping up & down, snapping the towel, and congratulating Tommy on his own career night at the end of the game.

Mr. Swiss Army Knife.....probably more so this year at times. Hard to believe, just a few more months.....he's been a main-stay in bringing the program back from some low levels.

And, this year, he's averaging 4 more rebounds a game so far, almost 9/game.....shooting above 40% from deep and almost 86% from the FT line. He's probably a little more subdued than some big-time all-conference players, but he has been more assertive AND more consistent this year.....foul trouble has been about the only real obstacle.

Climbing the Purdue career record books as well.

We also haven't seen yet, the highlight throw-down opportunity.....but, it's headed our way soon I believe.

Also, IMO, I think he and Dakota Mathias realize they have a lot of help and two more seniors to rely upon (along with some experienced under-classmen).....but they have to be the ultimate leaders to guide the team.....in different ways. Some clutch-time moments/opportunities are coming up.

Swiss Army knife.

Where does he rank in career points, rebounds?

Where does he rank in all time Purdue Forwards list? He has to be one of our top 5 forwards of all time, right?

He's @ 1335 points and 653 rebounds right now.

Good for 24th on the points list, ahead of Willie Deane with David Teague next on the list. Number 10 is Keith Edmonson @ 1,717, which is potentially reachable. Rob Hummel is 9th @ 1,772. Uncertain as to where he is on the all-time career rebounds records. Joe Barry Carroll has the school career record with 1,148; Caleb Swanigan had 718 in two seasons; the four-year players have an edge. AJ Hammons had 930.

We have been real lucky to have Vince and Dakota. I watched Vince in high school. I run into the Middletown athletic director and Vince stays in contact with him. Amazing how fast 4 years pass. I love Purdue grad in Texas. The breakaway thrown down will happen. He is like a knife taking it to the hole.

I may have heard wrong, but when interviewed after the game last night Vinny mentioned that Dakota let him know how good his shot was looking, etc. at halftime..........I love hearing stories like this, and that is what you would expect from leaders who respect eachother and the team they play on. That defines "BOILER UP" to me. IMO, talent sometimes don't mean shit without chemistry.......and this team seems to really have just that. We are going to miss these young men when they are gone.

I rarely tweet and never tweet players, but after Vince committed I tweeted him saying Purdue was going to love his versatility and he and his father liked the tweet. Little did I know that a couple of game videos would accurately portray what we have all seen during his time at Purdue. I think a single game scouting or video gives you a bit more accurate perspective on players than teams, but even then sometimes you just catch a fluke. I love this group of seniors for what they represent in sports, how they conduct themselves, their work ethic and how they have mentally and physically matured reaching closer to their potential than so many. I truly hope they reach their goals, not for me...but for what they mean to the sport. They are the type of people that a coach loves to coach and the fans are blessed that they represent their school
