As with football and basketball polls, you can track the individual voter’s ballot each week and through history. Shondell himself says there is a top 5 and then you can throw the next 15 in a basket and pull them out in any order.

week 4 rankings moved us from 10 to 11 after two sweeps of marginal opponents. The spread in the rankings is impressive.

rank / votes
1. 0
2. 0
3. 2
4. 0
5. 2
6. 6
7. 6
8. 1
9. 9
10. 4
11. 6
12. 5
13. 5
14. 2
15-21. 1 at each rank
22-25. 0 votes
not ranked 1

no vote cast for any team 4

also interesting to note that through the first 4 weeks, boilers have received a total of 18 top five votes 0/0/3/8/7.

season is early and conference play is just set to begin. It is not unusual or extraordinary for voters to be unsure about a team with this many untested pieces. Also, in VB is seems that teams are not penalized at all for playing top competition. Stanford has lost 3 matches but 6/8 were against top 20 teams and 7/8 against likely ncaa qualifiers. ohio state has played all their matches against likely ncaa qualifiers and 7/8 against ranked teams, losing 4.

RPI is not out yet and is the only thing that matters in tournament seeding.
