Okay time to move on since Vandy is right around the corner. So, prediction time...

This game is pretty important in terms of showing the loss was a speedbump. .. Vandy is no slouch of a team but I think the we come out focused and pissed off and we win by at least 10.

I agree. I think it's a bad time to be Vandy. We have something to prove after last game.
I'll be disappointed if we don't blow out Vandy. We weren't ready for Butler so we should be for this game. I wonder if a couple of starting assignments will be changed.

We need to step on them convincingly. Both for the mental health of the team and to put the trolls back under the bridge where they belong.

Vandy is NOT a bad team. I think they had a bad game against Dayton and let that one get away, but to the people predicting an easy victory….Vandy matches up with us fairly well, even with an injured player.

In their last game on Saturday, Vandy's center scored 21 points (7-13 shooting), had 7 rebounds, 0 fouls and 4 blocks. The guy is not a slouch (yes it was against Wofford, but he has performed well). This will be a big test for Hammons as he needs to be our primary center in this game and have a good game.

Vanderbilt's PF Jeff Roberson also had a good game - 13 points and 7 rebounds. Between these 2 guys, they were 11-14 from the line.

So this will be a formidable test for our front line.

In addition, Vandy's back court is good. Vandy shot 60% from 3 against Wofford (10-17). Their 3 starting guards each had at least 2 or 3 made 3 pointers.

This will be a big test of our perimeter defense.

If Vandy is hot shooting, it could be a long night for Purdue fans again.

Vandy is a good team who is overdue for a quality win. Their coach knows our coach, knows our team, and knows how to beat us. I keep thinking of the Vandy-ND-GW stretch last year and can't help but wonder if we are hitting a similar rough patch again. I see this game being another tough battle, and we will need some of our recurring weaknesses that showed in the Butler game (outside shooting, limiting turnovers) to be strengths in order to win.
Vandy 73, Purdue 72

Ya if the team is not up for this game then I don't know what to think. It's revenge time. and for the love of all that is holy AJH NEEDS TO START. I'm tired of this stupidity. Play him until he tugs his jersey.

This is absurd.

Vandy has 3 losses by a combined 14 points - including against Kansas, @ Baylor and Dayton. Was Dayton a good loss? No, but Dayton isn't bad. They were up on Kansas at halftime.

They have 3 players who have shot more than 30 3 pointers who are shooting 45%+ from 3 and are shooting 41% as a team.

They are shooting 49% overall as a team and holding their opponents to 36% shooting.

To be "disappointed" if we don't blow them out is ridiculous.

Lighten up, Francis!

Cut down on the coffee

As someone who struggles on this subject, I resemble that remark....

I am most concerned about our inconsistent ability to knock down outside shots by our perimeter shooters when needed. Until our guys prove this ability on the floor and on scouting tape, our post players will be seeing doubles most of the time. That said,
Vandy 83
Purdue 74

Wow, what a difference a game makes. Three predictions, so far, and all predicting a Vanderbilt win. What's with predicting them to score in the 80's though? Do people actually watch the games?

You get those kinds of things on here. One loss usually gets a few in the "sky is falling" mentality.

Vandy is a good team no doubt, but we are as well.

I agree with this quote. As for people predicting a Vandy win. Purdue was going to lose games. But it was totally unexpected for the team to come unglued the way they did against Butler. Now they are playing a good team off a loss like that. Several players did not play well. Does this team have the mental toughness to come back and play well against Vanderbilt? A really interesting test.

If Purdue loses Tues nite it will lead to questions how good this team is... However I'd rather see them tested then play and beat a weak team.

Very important to come out of this 3-game stretch (but, Van, Wisc) with a 2-1 record......

Before the Butler game I predicted a very close win 73-71, or close to that. And the final score was relatively close to that. My reason was due to both our annual propensity to not play crisp first game after finals and playing a good Butler team. Not that bad of a loss, but some things were exposed in that loss. To me mainly, our perimeter shooters making enough outside shots to keep the defense on our bigs honest. Our team may press a bit if they do not get off to a better start, especially from the perimeter. Vandy getting 83 is not that unreasonable but I'm hoping my final score is indeed reversed.

So single digit loss predictions against a good team constitutes "sky is falling" mentality, but a double digit win prediction is just plain logical. If anything what's changed here since Saturday is tempering of some of some high, perhaps unrealistic, expectations. You can make a prediction without insulting others. ps- I hope you are right.

I was not lumping you in the very few that fit that category. But some do go the extremes ...on both ends....

I'm merely predicting a 10 point win because I think we really are as good as we hope we are and I have to believe this team will play with a chip on their shoulder.

Agree. UW should be very winnable.

I almost wish that game was at Mackey at this point. It's a very winnable game, but the Kohl Center is never easy. We've done well there historically (although I don't think the "history" stats are rather meaningless - and you have a 50/50 shot at continuing those stats to fit narratives), but will still be a tough environment!

Agree. I don't think UW is very good, but this is a game that can jump up and bite us.

Aight. Peace.

Purdue 74 Vandy 66. I think this will be a good game. Purdue needs this one so I expect the boys ready to come to play. Will look good on our resume.

Purdue 67 Vandy 63.........

Boilers play solid the whole way and pull it out late with free throws and rebounds......

Close game the whole way......no more than 7 point lead either way.

Boiler Up!
